Never modelled wooden ships before but am just about to order the Occre Polaris as a starter kit from Cornwall Boats. It comes with a small tool kit and Will be ordering the paints, adhesives and other nicknaks made up by Cornwall Boats. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Modeled a very long time ago and loved it but mostly plastic and only basic wood.  I’ve recently became a grandpa and I’ve finally decide to start my own hobby since I’ve spent years supporting everyone else.  I’m going to order the Mantua Sergal Thermopylae Model # Art791 from Mantua and am looking forward to the challenge.  Any tips on tools or other are greatly appreciated.  I expect this to be very slow and I’m not afraid to make mistakes.  I’m looking forward to the challenge

I suggest you open a topic here in this sub forum and introduce yourself.   There are some Thermoplyae builds in the kit area.  Have a look at them, start your own log as it's a great way to get help and meet folks.
