Hey everybody. I started a scratch build in 2006 for some reason I can't recall now. I saw plans for a 1610 Galleon online, printed them to the size I wanted (I didn't know "scale") and started hacking and sanding my way through building the keel and stern. Then I started building the frames (I didnt know at the time but I was using the same style Hahn has on his plans).

After getting through cutting the frames and sanding them to shape, I just got tired of it.

Then last year my wife bought me the Mayflower kit by Model Shipways. I tore into it and had it finished within about a year. It was almost exactly the same ship I was foolishly trying to scratch build POF years earlier.

But now I am ready to have another go at a scratch build.

I'll be doing the Bounty at 1:48. I have McKay's book and I just ordered the pear. Wish me luck.

Welcome Adam, i like the Bounty and i am very curious to see you're new challenge.

I think when you take you're time to do everything right it will be fine.

Be patient, especially in the beginning (drawing and making hull) doesn't matter its a kit or scratch, it will give you a lot of pleasure with the rest of the build..😉

Do you already now how you gonna start building the hull? Admiralty style, or??

I wish you luck with you're new build, ill track it!👍

Welcome to Model Ship World Adam.  I saw your build log on your Mayflower and it turned out real nice.  I look forward to seeing your build of the Bounty.
