New member, just getting into model ship building. I've built models off and on all my life (61 now), but they've always been associated with model railroading or model cars. I have little knowledge of ships, but they interest me greatly (mainly sailing ships).

I have decent plastic modelling skills and that is the medium I've chosen to start out with, plastic kits. I had a Revell 1/96 Constitution when I was a teenager, but lost interest in it before I got too far. Unfortunately the kit has been lost to time. I'm not going to make the mistake of undertaking such a daunting task of starting right back there, I plan on biting off less challenging fare initially.

I'll be lurking on here, picking up wisdom on what makes up a sailing ship and learning new techniques. I'll happily contribute any knowledge I've picked up over the years, if there ever comes a time when the opportunity presents itself. Happy modelling!

Thanks Dave. Looking through some threads, seems everyone is friendly and eager to help. Most of my experience with message boards is with sports related ones. I expect this one to be a breath of fresh air.
