Hello dear friends,

a friend of mine came home a few days ago and we took some nice shots of L'Ambitieux. It's not as advanced as I hoped to show you, but they are still nice photos so I share them with you. Not that bad for a kit made by Altaya ! The designers of the kit really made a good job.

The goal is to finish the hull of this one before I go back to the Soleil Royal. Let's hope it will be soon...! 😅

Anyway thank you very wuch for the "likes" and the kind words, it means a lot to me.

:)

This all looks exquisite and super tidy, Marc.  I don't think paint can be done better, and the light shading of the ornamental works really brings out their details.  I know you have done quite a lot to upgrade the kit, but the lines and overall basis of the Altaya design are really very good.  She would be the envy of anyone's home fleet!

We are all works in progress, all of the time.

Thanks !

I would have loved to see another model by Victor !!

Yes, I immediatly knew there was something to do with these great carvings when I saw the add at the time. The kit didn't disappoint, of course there was a big amount of work to assemble the pieces together correctly but it was worth it !

Beautiful, I like it. I have only one question - where did the quarter gallery  go and where do the officers go to the toilet now?

I love the "Joy" wire sculpture, Vic.  We've been talking, so you know how I feel about all of your sculpture work, but I haven't seen your wire work until now.  That really made me feel as intended.

I'm still here ! I'm just struggling with the global organisation of my familiy, my job, my sport, but I've fixed a lot of things and life is much easier now than a few years back. Here are some news of L'Ambitieux, I quite like the general shape of the hull. The colors are very saturated in the pictures, in real the red is duller, and the yellow is lighter.

It's a small progression but the build still goes on.

:)

This is all extremely satisfying to see.  Your attention to surface-prep for the paint work can’t be missed.  It is all excellent - so happy to see you at it, again!

Best,

Marc

Hello dear friends !

L'Ambitieux is still going on, at his pace. I did a few things these last couple of weeks. At first I corrected the shape of the bow.

Then I installed the "porte-haubans", maybe the word is "stay shelf" in english ? I made various superstructure elements ont the third deck: some ladders ("echelle des gaillards" and the ladder of the crew), "bitton de grand hunier" and "bitton de petit hunier", the "bossoirs de capon" (the horns at the front of the ship), the chemneys. Concerning the chemneys, those of the kit were very acceptable, I only had to drew a real hole and treat them with "tourmaline". (a product that oxyde and blacked the metal) I also installed the bell, made the ladder and the protections for the outside hull, and now, I'm installing all the gunport mantlets.

I try not to dive too deep into detail, it's really a different work compared to my SR but it's very rewarding to see the model progress, and I really like the overall look. The purpose is not to have an educational model but a good rendering of the image of what a great ship of this time should have looked like, at sea.

As always, I'm very thankful for the "likes" and comments, it really pushes me forward !

:)

Your correction at the cutwater as something I was wondering about.  It would not have detracted from the model, if you had left it as-is, but it is a nice improvement, nonetheless.

Thank you for posting such good chimney pics.  They are really helpful.  While you may feel that you aren’t going too overboard on the details, I think you have added so much to this kit, and corrected quite a number of its fundamental flaws.

So much with sailing ships has to do with the lines, and the lines of your ship ring so true!
