I am resting....I am just playing in the shop. Its when I have to make tons of parts that I get worn out. I am just drafting some designs and solving some problems on the computer.
Its all good. No inventory is being made today for sure. Just a leisure slow day in the shop sipping tea.

Continued: Equipment of the lower yards - more blocks - poulies
As already described, I preferred to produce more blocks for the lower yards. These are blocks for the braces, clew lines and lifts of the main and fore yard and for the sheets of the mizzen yard. A total of 12 pieces with a length of 5.6 mm had to be made. The brass sheaves of the single blocks have a diameter of around 3.2 mm and are 0.6 mm thick.
For the clew line blocks (Poulies de cargue de point - the main yard) I have already made the strops as you can see in the next picture.
Here's a look at the workspace:
Finally a picture from the middle of the main yard with a clew line block that has been lashed down in the meantime. Here, too, a rose lashing was used, which was not easy to accomplish with the necessarily somewhat thinner rigging yarn.
The brass tubes have now been delivered. So I can continue with the thimbles for the foot ropes. I hope that the size will be appropriate.

They do offer a darker brown in this material but I selected this medium color for the test.
I think I am going to have to replace all the deadeyes on my Winnie now.
The dyed deadeyes on the main channel look so muddy and non-descript by comparison. Or maybe I should test the darker brown as well. Anyway...
The details are so much more evident on these new deadeyes. I will certainly go ahead and make a full compliment of these and blocks also for my Speedwell. I will only start mass producing though if there is enough interest. I hope so as I think these look so much better than the old ones.

Trumpeter does a 1:48 Sea Vixen too. Not sure how it compares with the Airfix kit. Would need to read up on it. Yeah, I was thinking the Hasegawa RN Phantom is the only one I've seen in 1:48 and that was a LONG time ago.

would you guys be interested in dark brown deadeyes that dont require dying?
These are just like my current build them yourself deadeye kits.
3mm thru 7mm
There are just two layers for each deadeye. Just glue the two halves together for seven deadeyes at a time with thin set CA and remove them from the spru. Then tumble them to suit .
They are super crisp.
I like how Greg dyed my blocks on Speedwell and I am trying to develop a full line of blocks and deadeyes that dont require messy dying.
I want to use them on my Speedwell when I rig her. Here is Gregs model with deadeyes dyed with Fibings dark brown.

1/32 a bit big for my remaining shelf space, but Airfix do a 1/48 Vixen to go with this Bucc, then there is just the Phantom left, the Hasegawa one is not often available and not sure what the Revell one like?

So my plan is to have a convoy of vehicles per se. I went down to the local Men’s Shed this afternoon and ordered a 1.5 m plank with beveled edges cut in half for storage. On this I will put the 2 tractors, the 6” gun, 2 different US trucks and a scout car. I have a heap of extras to throw in the truck trays to make it interesting.

Chuck, you do deserve to catch with life and health. Your Admiral (Wife/Lady) is a wise one.
I do enjoying making my own rope using your tool. This way I can experiment and make more when needed at the moment.
Blocks is another story, that is what I will be back for later on.

A pure gloss black is a black hole. Better to go with a charcoal gray. Look at CDW's Buccaneer log with the gray discussions. Very tough to photograph black.

I may have finished the decals today had it not been for an errand or two as well as a visit to the eye doctor for a yearly exam.
She's beginning to look very Royal Navy to me now. Need to finish my canopy (and some decals on it), pylons and weapons (decals on these too) before I can call it done. Will put a protective coat of satin varnish over everything before putting on the canopy.

I also used to love 35mm film cameras, had a few before digi came out - my main subjects where Aircraft and Airshows.
