    Hello Dirk,

WOW, that's a very ambitious project you guys are making.  It's looking very nice and should be a great addition in the museum so people can see how it more or less was at the time when the VOC was a great company.

I wish you and the rest of the builders much success and keep me posted.

Hello Pete and welcome to my shipyard.  Yes, this build is a little different from the O19 sub, which is now proudly displayed in my studio.  And not to forget the little lobster boat I did.  It's total departure from aircraft design, repair and flying them but I have always loved the sea and ships.

I'm grateful for the help from Amateur Jan, Amazon Dirk and now also Hans.  Pull up a chair and join the crowd, the coffee is always fresh and hot.

    Cheers,

    G'day all -

And I say that because three of the comments are from Oz, and the other from Canada.  Hard to remember how hard it was to make a long distance call to the next state, and now it is routine to be mates with friends halfway around the world.  Amazing . . .

Greg - yes, I will post a link and set it up on my profile.

John - I did put in a binnacle, but I have no idea if the telegraph is right.  It just seemed that the spot needed something, although it could have been a telephone station. etc. . . I never found any clear evidence, and I am not enough of an ocean liner expert to know.  Never even heard the term "monkey island" before, but it's a perfect description.

Probably a bit late now, Dan, but I'm just catching up after holidays.  Are you sure that's a telegraph up ther on the monkey island?  That's usually where the ship's standard compass would be.

    Hi Dan

Ok, hear me out here. I think I've just had one of those "doh" moments...you know when you whack your head with your fist, thinking why didn't I think of that! Of course, I'm talking about your brilliant idea of using the collette to twist the wire for the eyebolts. Simple, quick, effective and a master stroke of genius.

    What a great idea!

    Thanks

Four long days I was not in shipyard

Today Her crying and calling was too loud to hear it any more, so, it is Friday, and as I have to work in office by weekend, at Friday night I pronounced "hobby hours" and continued with second deck house

Interesting ... When you know what you are doing, and when you have plan, it goes pretty fast

    And stage 1 was done

You can notice that rounded corners of ornaments are a bit lower than in plan (cca 1mm). Reason - to let them to be seen under roof from distance. If I make them in scale, those nice semi circles would be covered by outside roof moulding

Next time, fine trimming and painting, and after that - aftdeck house. All "roofs" will be planked at the same time, to have equial look from bird perspective

Looking good Sjors. Me-thinks you need to talk to the gnomes though, that foreward most lid on the port side looks to be about 1.2º off from the rest.

We are almost back to normal !!!!!!
    Work, work and work.....
    But we are happy.
    And a small update.
The large gunport lids on the starboard and port side are done.
All what is left are 14 small gunport lids ( and of course the rest what I have to do  )
And back to work again !!!!!!

Saw that I had forgot to make the upper hinge parts at the top of the rudder in the black painted area. Made that & got it all on. Al nails are in & rudder is on.

Made six oars for the Orange Boat. Each has a different purpose and each boat has 6 oars and other things on board. Details on my website for construction.

They are all done now Remco.  I used a short 0.5 mm brass rod clamped in a small vice and redid a few that were a tad too small.  No need to make all new ones    All of the eyelets have also received a dab of solder where the wires cross to keep them is shape.
I'm busily working on putting them on the single sheaf pulley blocks - - - 32 of them little buggers.  As mentioned before, they are very small and I'm winding up making new ones a tad larger.

Needles to say, it's slow going.  Then comes the cleaning and blackening of the straps and installing them.

    Cheers,
