maaaslo got a reaction from mtaylor in Tamiya King George V 1/350 scale for sale
I have been given this kit a few years ago and it has been sitting in my stash ever since. I dont build plastic models anymore and since i am moving the house i need to make space.
kit is unstarted, no parts bags opened all sealed. Opened to take a picture that is it.
will accept offers ranging around 45-50GBP
still goes for 65-70gbp on amazon and other outlets.
i will post free in UK, postage to abroad paid by the buyer, same as customs or any other fees.
any questions just ask.
oh and there are no addditional enhancing packs coming with this, i never planned on building this beauty.

how is this kit build going on? i hope you did not get rid of it, it would be such a waste...

maaaslo got a reaction from catopower in HMS ENTERPRIZE by DominichSteven - FINISHED - Shipyard - 1/64 - CARD
largest scale Shipyard does is so called SuperPlans edition. they did 3 models. I have one of those at home. Funny enough, it is also Enterprize. scale is 1/72. One could think your approach is even better. it will allow you to add details that on smaller scale are a bit too hard to do. At least for us, sub human. not everybody can be like DORIS, or when it comes to it, like you.
I would also reconsider leaving hatch covers opened. leaves a lot of empty room, that is calling for details, detail that you wont be able to fill anymore. decks are glued...
my hat off. you are showing some really nice progress. although, I don't think you will manage to finish this beauty in 5 months.

well, probably best he has the model under the glass cover now. that is the reason why everyone covers theirs, to protect from environment

maaaslo got a reaction from BLACK VIKING in Pinta by Maaaslo - Shipyard - 1/96 - card
Since the scale is so small i was looking for a good substitute for the sails that used to be sold as extra for this model. Obviously out of stock so had to look elsewhere…
behold, the new sail stock…
feels a little… vaxy but takes glue and pencil. Stiff enough to hold the shape. Easy enough to work with. As its paper, all holes had to be reinforced with superglue and drilled with 0.6mm drill to take thread.

Everyone, i am back
the kit was dormant for some time, mothballed for the times i am in the mood again.
i dusted her, cleaned som spider webs and looked up the instructions.
i think i am getting the hang of all this sailmaking and hanging the spars whatnot.
appologies for quality of light but its 8pm here and as its winter time its dark outside.

Nice idea for the sails. Who'd have thought it?
She's looking very good.

maaaslo got a reaction from EricWilliamMarshall in Shipyard Cardboard kits
well, i could say on my behalf, that its not easy, but also its not hard. i managed to build hull of the Le Coureur to relatively good standard, but poor choice of glue have prevented me from continuing it. one day i will take it apart and start over.
also, you have to be confident in doing your own paint job. kit is supplied on plain cardboard, all laser cut, you just have to assemble it and then paint it.
i would probably consider building something for the beginners first, as otherwise you are risking it turning into a quite costly fire-starting kit. that's meant to be when you fail, you start fire with it...
i don't mean to discourage you at all, just giving you a fair warning.

maaaslo got a reaction from EricWilliamMarshall in An asortment of card models
You have no idea... i have some like 100+ paper models. Most of them are gpm, modelik, i have the whole shipyard collection. Most famous german tanks and halftracks. I have sherman firefly. If you seem the kit, one of the most complicated on the market. I probably will never build it, but its a pleasure going through the pages... t34/76 from halinski. That model was their most advanced. So far have only seen it completed a handfull of times. It has lot more than 1000 parts.
none of you probably heard it, but during late 80s, early 90s, in former Czechoslovakia we had this magazine. Called ABC of young pioneers (in sense of you g comrades). They have released a continous stream of the architectural models and called it MPR. Stands for something like historical town centre heritage... was a whole town.
have a look:
i have a whole lot of those, plus a whole lot more different ones. My collection is nothing, comparing to some geeks i know...
they need cellars, i only need a bottom of the wardrobe with a few banana boxes.

maaaslo got a reaction from Keith Black in French Ironclad Solferino 1861 by GrandpaPhil - FINISHED - Orel - 1/200 - CARD
if that was corrugated cardboard, it certainly wont work in this case... the original construction pieces did not account for the extra thickness.
