Hi Robert and welcome to Model Ship World. Another source for planking information is the Articles Database located at the top of the page. Click on this and another page opens. You can scroll down to the Planking and Framing section where you will find articles on planking. It is a good resource. What part of Virginia are you located in?

Congratulations Rusty on your USF Confederacy taking the People's Choice first place award in the Sail Category at the Northeast Joint Clubs Conference and Show yesterday. There were a lot of top notch models in that category, but yours was definitely the best and the voters got it right. It is a beautiful model. I also enjoyed seeing you again. If you get a chance, please post a picture of your award.

Hi RMillet and welcome to Model Ship World. I am glad that you have decided to start your wooden ship modeling journey with the Model Shipways "Shipwright Series". The are excellent kits for the first time wooden ship modeler. I did a search and found quite a few build logs for this kit. Here is a link to them: https://modelshipworld.com/tags/Lowell Grand Banks Dory/

Thanks Marcus for sharing your build with us. Each ship model you build is a learning experience and your skills will improve with each model built. I am sure that you can see where you could improve your planking process. I would not give up on this model. Completing it will increase your knowledge base and help you build better models in the future. Good luck on this build and do not hesitate to ask questions on this forum if you need help. We are here to help and support you in your modeling efforts.

Hi PenombraET and welcome to Model Ship World. It is hard to recommend a particular ship model kit that is in the medium to advanced skill level without knowing what type of ship model you would like to build. I know a lot of our members are building ship model kits from Vanguard Models https://vanguardmodels.co.uk/ plus the designer of these kits, Chris Watton, is a member of this forum.
Here is a link to the many build logs of the Vanguard kits. Maybe you will find one of their kits that peaks your interest. https://modelshipworld.com/tags/Vanguard Models/

Could you make replacement stanchions out of wire. Another option could be to make them out of plastic. Two companies that sell plastic are Evergreen Scale Models and Plastruct. If you click on the two companies underlined, it will take you to their websites.

Nice start to this hobby. You seem to have inherited some of your Dad's modeling skills.

Hi Valkyrja68 and welcome to Model Ship World. It looks like you are finding your way around MSW. I did a topic search and found two pages of topics for the Revell Constitution. Here is a link to my search:
You will find that it does not take much time to learn your way around MSW. As far as questions go, please ask away as we are more than willing to try to answer them.

Hi Mary and welcome to Model Ship World. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. You have come to the right place to enhance your skills and build a ship model your Dad would be proud of. I hope you start a build log so that we can follow your progress.
