Congratulations Rusty on your USF Confederacy taking the People's Choice first place award in the Sail Category at the Northeast Joint Clubs Conference and Show yesterday.  There were a lot of top notch models in that category, but yours was definitely the best and the voters got it right.  It is a beautiful model. I also enjoyed seeing you again.  If you get a chance, please post a picture of your award.

Hi PenombraET and welcome to Model Ship World.  It is hard to recommend a particular ship model kit that is in the medium to advanced skill level without knowing what type of ship model you would like to build.  I know a lot of our members are building ship model kits from Vanguard Models https://vanguardmodels.co.uk/  plus the designer of these kits, Chris Watton, is a member of this forum.

Could you make replacement stanchions out of wire.  Another option could be to make them out of plastic.  Two companies that sell plastic are Evergreen Scale Models and Plastruct.  If you click on the two companies underlined, it will take you to their websites.

Nice start to this hobby.  You seem to have inherited some of your Dad's modeling skills.
