  1. My method for threading line through holes in deadeyes and blocks is to put some CA glue on the end of the line, maybe about 1/4" worth.  Then wipe it off of the line.  Once the CA is dry, take a hobby knife and cut the CA soaked end on an angle.  This hardened end is then threaded through the deadeye or block.  Works every time for me.

The first mistake I made was that I accidentally snapped the corner off of one of the garboards while doing a little bit of sanding. Once I get some wood filler this should be easy to fix, but I was still pretty annoyed at myself. Good lesson about carelessness!

Since the model will be painted, I would glue the piece back on that broke off or glue a piece of scrap wood on the edge.  Once the glue is thoroughly dry, you can carefully sand it to match the unbroken side.  This is what I like about working with wood.

Why didn't you finish the rigging if you don't mind me asking? Move onto another ship?

I started another ship model and then another.  It got put on the back burner and occasionally I will pull it out and do a little work on it.  I should really dedicate my time to finish this model.  It will be almost 22 years since I started this build.  Way too long to not have finished it.
