Incredible. Great detail. It's like looking at the real thing. And don't mind Sjors. I think he forgot to clean his spectacles this morning...

Nice Andy... If you find some way to attach a hook to one end you can strop blocks as well... As I'm no engineer I have to ask if there is a specific reason why you spaced the crank axle and the tube with the rope with a gear?

When you get that needle threader, stick it to the end of a piece of dowel so you easier can get to those hard to reach places...

The worst must be when they refer to Pink Floyd as "him" And when it comes to aluminium and such I usually use one of the Scandinavian languages to avoid those discussions.

Nice job with the cleaning up Sjors! Your workshop is something to dream about when I sit at my kitchen table waving off cats and kids... But you should quit smoking...

I have the Android-app. As I'm a noob at tying knots it's really handy to always have this source..

Cristiano, that would be great! I've been thinking of doing a scratchbuild so the Pinco would be perfect. Eric

Jeez, must have been there dozen of times and thought that the "Pinco" was the only one without translation! Now, when I went there the first one I saw was the "Pinco"!!! Go figure. Bummer! (Eric)

Thanks Brian. On the Pinco it seems as there is ONLY Italian instructions. But with the help of Mastini's book and a little Google etc I think that could be fixed. Or maybe I'll take evening classes in Italian! Let's see if I can dig up the money for the kit this fall. Bummer! (Eric)

Going back to the wooldings. Caldercraft uses a technique in their manual that has you drilling a small hole 2 mm deep in the mast, securing the end of the thread there and finishing the same way. Works very well. Bummer! (Eric)

I found this italian ship the other day: I fell in love with the strange ways they built the fore and mizzen mast. Then I found the kit maker here: http://www.euromodel-ship.com/eng/ and wonder if anyone here have had a go at building their kits? If so, any thought on material etc??? Bummer! (Eric)

She's looking great Sjors. You can call me whatever you like. Just not honey... Bummer! Eric

Hope you don't mind me copying some of your stuff when I do the masts etc. Started to mount the deadeyes and having a hard time getting them inside the chainplates without disfiguring the chainplates totally. Do you have any tips on them? Bummer!

Hi Andy, I found out about a week ago that there where no 0.5 mm black thread supplied with my kit. No wonder I had a hard time labeling the different thicknesses(is that a word?) Amati sent me 2 spools right away so now all the other spools makes much more sense. Bummer!

Hi Aldo. Beautiful work on the Bitts there my friend. You may not have as much time with your build as you'd wish but you do wonders with those few moments you have. I was on my way to send a e-mail to Amati demanding the new bitts! Happy Easter even though it's almost over. Eric Bummer!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
