Is the kit complete other than the plans? If so I'll cover the shipping charges.

    Hi Techsan,
I'm no expert, but judging by your pictures I would say that you have done a beautiful job so far. I think your model is well worth continuing with. I'm not sure how many of the remaining parts you feel you need to replace, but if you still have the plans, it shouldn't be too difficult to determine what you need and then source them from one or more suppliers, or buy the wood and fashion some of the replacement parts. Another option, although it would be expensive, is to try to obtain a whole second kit and work from it. I know the Mamoli company is not longer in business. Some of their kits are currently available from Dusek, but I don't believe the Constitution is one of them at this point. However, I'll bet you could still find one either through one of the major retailers  or on ebay. I guess a third option would be to finish it off in admiralty style, it's almost there now.

However you choose to approach it, I would encourage you to continue with this model. This model is crying out to be finished.
    David

    Hello and welcome!

You ask a tough question to answer. It is one of those questions in which if you get 10 answers, they might be all different, as every one has their own opinion.
    Ask yourself this:
By looking at the box photos, or build logs in this forum, of all the above, which one do I like the most?
    Is it within my budget?
    Then go for it!!!!

When I saw a picture of my present build, The Royal Louis I fell in love with it, but it was out of my budget. One day I saw the kit at a 75% discount and I just knew it had to be mine. I was finally able to get it. Patience and perseverance are keys in this our beloved hobby, in more ways than one!

    Best regards

I went onto Fieblings web site but could not find "General Finishes black stain". Could you help to further identify which stain you used?

J T Lombard reacted to Chuck in Making the best of ACTIVITY STREAMS and how to customize them/edit them etc.
What is an activity stream?   It is a fancy word for the custom search of the content on this site, which at the click of a link you can view precisely what you want.   Currently there are only the default streams set up.  You can view these by hovering over "Activity" in the menu as shown below.  Note the "MY ACTIVITY STREAMS"

Click on "MY ACTIVITY STREAMS" and you will see the default streams.  They are pretty good but I know you will want a more targeted stream of content you are interested in.  For example you can set up a custom stream that will show you only unread activity in build logs for three people you specifically want to check out regularly.  And you can filter other restrictions.   Just click on "Create new Stream as circled below.

You will get to a filter screen where you can name your new customized search....see below

Then select the other customized features you want.  Below you can see I selected individual forums and even made it specific to just two members.....and content that I havent read since my last visit.  You can set it up any way you want....

After you save your customized stream (lower right is saved button)  it will now appear in the drop down as shown below....this is the test stream I just set up.....

If you click on it....it will show you only what you asked it to show you.  See below for my custom activity stream.  There is no content because I made it very narrow with only two members as you see.  Read the description of my custom stream below the red circle.  Also note that the icons in the red circle let you select this as your default stream or you can edit it or delete it.   It will remember your selections and now all you have to do is click on it whenever you want to see this particular stuff.

Even more awesome is that you can set up as many custom activity streams that you want.........

For each size of line I use I make a 3x5 card for reference. Each card shows the single strand, three strand and nine strand.

I then use the ships rigging plan and scale conversion chart to match the size of line I need to the size of line I use

The scale conversion chart is a great key to have.
