Looks good John. I too have switched to using Zig markers for my plank edges.

Hmmm... who is in the picture? Well, it's not Patrick Henry. Since it's circa 1768, I will guess King George III.? Edit: I know my answer is not correct. I have been scanning tons of portrait images from the time period but cannot find a match!!!

Coming along nicely David. Like you and Dave, i also work on multiple projects at once. I always have 3 - 4 models going in various stages of construction. I find that not only does it help to fill in the time gaps, but it also keeps me from rushing too quickly on any one thing.

Hi Don, yup I always have models on the bench. Currently I am working on an AL stagecoach for my stepson, an Apollo Lunar Lander (in plastic) for my wife, and I just started working on the Dahlgren Howitzer that comes with the MS Picket Boat kit. Never a dull moment in this hobby shop!!

Looks outstanding so far Dave. On mine, I didn't glue any frames to the keel until after all of them had been fitted and faired. If you do a very meticulous job at fairing the frames individually before they are glued you will find that there is very little fairing left to do after you remove her from the jig!!! That maple is going to really look nice!! Mike

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
