Deck has been planked (including windlass pads and thick pads at the masts) and painted. I masked from templates I made copying the plans and airbrushed the white. The areas that I stained should be gray, based on the instructions, but I didn't like how much of the plank detail disappeared under the white paint, so I elected to just stain it a weathered color.

    Beautiful joggling, Cabbie.

I'm currently building the Pen Duick and, although the Artesania Latina kit does not show any joggling, the original Pen Duick I had joggling on the king plank down the center of the deck and also some joggling around the hatch frames. Harry built a beautiful model of the Pen Duick and he has been sending me photos of his deck and has been a great help. I'm currently waiting for some mahogany strips to arrive to use for the margin plank before I start trying to lay the deck planks with the joggles.

I think I understand how you went about it from your answer to Harry. I assume you had the margin plank securely glued down before you drew the joggle and then cut it out. Is this correct? Did you find it difficult the cut the joggle out of the margin plank while it was glued down?

The king plank on the Pen Duick is mahogany and it is quite brittle and is not easy to cut especially across the grain. I tried a test piece today and it tore out a rough edge before I could cut completely through it. I think having it glued down securely should help prevent tear out. I hope that will work but I'm not sure how easy it will be to cleanly cut out the joggle even though it is glued down.

    Thanks!

Morning to all 6.52 am here and -1 outside, I hate frosts.
Waterways are in, though they blend in a bit and hard to see on photos, broke
about 8 pieces before I got 6 glued in.
Thanks again for the compliments Harry, hard for me imagine living with earthquakes and volcanoes,
I suppose you learn to deal with the extra challenges as they come.
Tricky time to be moving house  at the moment but it sounds like you have it under control,
must be the management and patience lessons you have learnt doing model boat building
The joggling wasn't too bad to do, but sorry i didn't take any more photos if you look at the 3rd pic
you can see where i marked the next plank to be cut in, on the margin plank.
The plank next to it is still loose so that I can remove it to get the blade in to cut out for the plank.
I would lay the next plank to be fitted on the deck in place, mark around it, then mark it for a 1/2 plank at the end
and use the blades to cut the margin plank out. after that fit the deck plank, cut to length and glue in.
The last photo shows the tools used and my trusty disposable blade plane.
    Hooroo Chris
I need to add keeping the symmetry right each side was a constant battle, remembering to look and check and check and look.
Come up pretty close in the end.

Thanks for the suggestion Keith, I did consider using acetate but I want to keep the transom thickness as close to 4mm as I can, which it will be when these parts are glued together.
Thanks for that Scott I looked it up and did find it at BNA models so will order some when I think of what other supplies I want from them to make the postage worthwhile.
Meanwhile I did a little experiment with white glue ( which dries clear) and two part epoxy on a piece of scrap.

May be a bit hard to see in the photo but the 2 part epoxy is the clearest however it is a bit harder to smooth out and get rid of the air bubbles. Anyway something to think about as there is no rush.
The horizontal frames have been fitted to the window frames and I am fairly happy with how they turned out.

The frames and the inside edges of the frames have been painted white. The transom has also been assembled.

The transom has also been painted duck egg blue where the window openings are located.

I think it will look OK when the transom is completed.
    All comments welcome.
Thanks for looking and the likes.

Doing a search on this comes up with a handful of other sites and scam reports. To me that’s enough to stay away or proceed with high risk.

    Hi, Chris.

I checked out the site, too. As others have pointed out, it's a new site with no established reputation, and they sell (or at least list) knock-off merchandise. That's enough for us to pull the welcome mat for them at MSW and advise our members to take their hard-earned cash elsewhere. But thanks for bringing the site to our attention!

    Cheers!

Thanks VTHokiEE Yes vary wary myself. I thought it might have been a new site. Its default currency seems to be Canadian, were you able to see
    where it is based?
The kit they are showing appears to be the real thing, correct name and image for an Occre model.
They say to check the sellers listing as though its an ebay type site, but there is no sellers listing active.
    Thanks Chris

I feel like a minnow among all the other posters here, too many models and not enough time.

I checked out this site as well and what I see is a bunch of Chinese made junk that I think they are trying to claim is made in Japan. Now whether it is a scam or not, is hard to say until people start buying from them and seeing what if anything they get in the mail. I try and buy mainly from reputable online retailers that have been around a while, but then there is the rarity that something from one of these off the wall online stores that catches my eye and I hit the buy button. When I do, I go in knowing that I could lose my money, so I make sure it is within an amount I'm comfortable with losing.

Assembled the lower hull and primed it with Vallejo Panzer Gray Primer. Each link of the tracks are glued together along side of a metal ruler to keep a straight alignment.
I like the way they have included the casting numbers in the hull parts. The kit includes the parts to do several iterations of the M-50, but I have chosen to model the 1973 version with this build.

If I read their domain information correctly that site is less than two weeks old (maybe less than one). Personally, I wouldn’t purchase from them. I think the chances are high that you will be working to get your money back if the product doesn’t show or it’s a cheap knock off of what you really want. If it seems to good to be true it probably isn’t sort of thing.

Hmmm some more things i have to find time for to go and look up, funny what comes up when you have

Hey all. Some more work has been done and progress is good.  Finished planking the hull below the wales and added the stem post, keel and about to add the stern post.
One rubbing strake has yet to be added about two plank rows above the wales.
This whole thing needs a good sand very carefully because the veneer strips are only 1mm thick. Some touch ups to do but im pleased with it so far. Hope you enjoy.
