  1. 15.4 The joint that makes the connection with the following piece.
  2. Part 15:The sheer rail 15.1 The sheer rail is too long to make it in one piece. I make it in three parts. To obtain the shape of it I draw a template on the model with the help of a piece of cardboard.
  3. Patrick, Is looking nice. What kind of paint do you use for the white? G.L.
  4. When dry I plank the gangways on the paper template. Between the planks I use again black cardboard strip caulking. To keep the planks firmly in place while gluing, I use nails in predrilled holes. The holes will later be used for tree nails.
  5. Making the gangway. I first saw the gangway trims and glue them on a paper template.
  6. Yves, I like very much the first one. Any idee what ship it is? G.L.
  7. I make the brackets from 2x2mm brass. I make first a paper template directly signed off the model and ply the brass rods with the help of pliers. When I have all the parts, I solder them following the shape on the paper template.
  8. Hi Derek, I cut the blade with a Dremel rotary saw and when needed I finish it of with a file. The blade is not a razor blade but a piece of a cutter blade. I think that a razor blade would fracture while scraping oak.
  9. Then again tree nailing the completed part. Continuing to the bottom and again tree nailing and sanding.
  10. In the second part of the starboard side, I leave an opening in the planking to keep the frames visual. I took over the shape of the opening from the Zeljko Triton cros section which can be found on the cross section forum under the name 'UWEK Triton Build (re-post by mod)'. I made it only a bit wider to show all nine frames.
  11. After completing each third I tree nail and sand it immediately to avoid a long and boring tree nailing job for the whole hull.
  12. I divide the space between the wales and the broad strakes in three equal parts and plank each part from the sides to the middle.
  13. Time to complete the planking from wales to keel. I start with the garboard- and broad strakes.
  14. Derek, I posted the reports for my cross section by mistake in your log. I erased them again, therefore you see some empty boxes. My excuses for that! G.L.
  15. I divide the space between the wales and the broad strakes in three equal parts and plank each part from the sides to the middle.
  16. Nice progress Derek. You didn't place the gun ports too low like I did. G.L.
