CDW reacted to Jack12477 in JSDF Light Armor Vehicle by Jack12477 - FINISHED - Tamiya - 1:35 Scale
Well I finally got around to repainting the entire shell with base green, then the camo pattern. I decided on the desert sand color over the read earth shown in the kit. Now to let the paint throughly cure before I decal it.
I need some more practice with airbrush especially with the Vallejo paints.

Love the detail of the cockpit Edward. You will still see some of your hard work through the canopy. 👍

CDW got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Vickers Wellington Mk 1a/c by Realworkingsailor - FINISHED - Airfix - 1/72
I had a dearly departed friend who was a B-17 tail gunner. He survived being shot over Europe down 3 times! The third time he was captured and spent the remainder of the war in a German POW camp. He never talked much about it, but he sure could pound down Wild Turkey. I always imagined it was his pain killer for everything he had seen and gone through during the war. A very successful road and bridge contractor.

Until now, never had any idea that a shade of red was used inside certain British aircraft fuselage. It's the first time I have ever seen it. Looks very interesting and different for sure. Reminds me of the red seen inside ship hulls on the gun decks.

CDW reacted to DocRob in F4U-1A Corsair by DocRob - FINISHED - Tamiya - 1/32
Phew, almost done with the build. I build and painted all the flaps and there are a lot, thanks to the bent wing design and folding wings. All flaps are up, like I've seen on pictures of parked Corsairs. I also painted all the landing gear parts and covers, but these will be attached after painting the fuselage and wings. The outer wing parts are not glued in place for now.
Some more details to add and then, it will be painting stage.
Cheers Rob

I have two firsts to report, one being only a little thing. I did an inside and outside masking job with the Corsair's canopy. The plastic was so clear, I skipped my usual bath of Pledge.
The second 'first' was, the HGW kabuki masks were really fitting, something I haven't found, despite having used lots of their masks. They never fitted. Very often I was dissatisfied with HGW products, like the super fragile wet transfers, their super sets for WNW kits, in my case for the Hansa Brandenburg, which was widely unusable and yes, the never before fitting masks. I take it as a good sign and hope for the best with many other HGW products, I have in my stash.
Cheers Rob

The red was a result of the dope used on the fabric skin. If you go back to the “Worker’s Weekend” video at the beginning of my log, there’s a mention of the dope colour.
My camera (and lighting) makes it seem redder than it really is, it’s more of a duller oxide red colour.

Hi All,
A quick update.... (Well, an update when you're not having an update)
It's been some time since I posted on this build, it's still sitting on my workbench a little unloved.
I am hoping to getg the Rigging underway in the very near future but as I have mentioned in the past, I am still limited by my right Rotator-Cuff injury and cannot lift my arm very much, something that has been plaguing me since the injury in August 2021.
So, I'm now on my weight machine to help myself get things moving properly, and I need to move properly as there are many delicate bits to knock off!!
I was hoping for assistance from my partners son but for one reason or another, this has not occurred as yet.
I am also deliberating about whether or not I'll do the Deck Decals, I have a bit of time to think about it a little longer.... 🙂
Apart from the Rigging, the rest of the sub-assemblies are ready to be attached, (Boats/AA Guns.), so not much at all really.
(I did toy with the idea of starting something new but decided against this as I just cannot build multiple projects.
So, I have not given up and apologies to anyone hoping for something positive from myself, but it is coming!!
Cheers and Regards,
Harry.

I saw that too. Also, their "news" section tells about it. Says they are expecting delivery very soon, but they are not offering preorder. First come, first served when it gets here.

My son is a huge Ebay seller, just not model kits. He has taught me a lot of tricks to watch for when buying or selling. His knowledge and recall of what items are worth is astounding to me. He can spot a valuable item a mile away. Things I wouldn't notice or give a second look if I did, he can spot it and immediately know how much he can make from the sale of it. He bought a big box of new old stock electrical items one day when I was with him garage sale hopping. I think he gave maybe $25 for the entire box. He sold individual items out of that box for hundreds of dollars each. They were component parts for commercial grade HVAC units.

I always check the "sold" prices on Ebay, not the active, asking prices. Often there is a large disparity between the asking prices and the actual sold prices. There was one particular WnW kit I wanted from Ebay but the asking prices were $150 or even more than the actual, historical sold prices. I made a seller an offer for the sold (history) price and explained why. He declined. I waited and within a week or two bought another one for the historic sold amount. That other seller never sold his kit and took it down from Ebay listing. But yeah, there are some ridiculous prices people are asking for their stuff. Probably sometimes they even get it because people don't take the time to thoroughly check history. For those that don't know, you can begin a search for an item on Ebay, then select the check mark for "sold" items only. This will give you a list f items that match your search that have sold in the last 90 days or so.

I agree with you 100% on this. Wish Andy had limited the orders to one of each, because I have a feeling there were resellers who came along and ordered dozens each of certain kits that have the highest resale value, and that hurts the modeler who actually builds the kits. I don't know what else could explain certain kits being sold out just two minutes past 6:00 PM. I seriously doubt it was from modelers who bought one of each.

I don't see anything about the kits on Spruebrothers website. Where did you hear about it?

Didn't know Spruebrothers were also getting a shipment. Thanks for that update.
Andy said the container had thousands of kits. Hard to believe so many sold out in just minutes like that. Some people must have been ordering many of each.
