If you use linen, you can rub the sails with beeswax. This makes the linen less "fluffy" and a bit stiffer. And yes. Linen sails are actually a little too thick for this scale (1/45)

Thank you The Airfix Matilda is actually their old model, supplemented with newly designed pieces for the Hedghog. I think a Hetzer is always something special. For this Hetzer, I think parts were "borrowed" from the Esci Hetzer -
My last 4 "modern Russian" kits. All 4 are from ACE on a 1/72 scale We start with BREM-2, a recovery vehicle based on the BMP family. http://acemodel.com.ua/en/model/108 The box Content. As mentioned earlier, these are short run kits. Special but with some extra work... I've have this kit for years. One of the reasons I never started it, a lot of cleaning up to do And the first pieces don't cooperate from the start. But, with time and patience, a model will eventually emerge

Small update. Applying the tracks. A bit of fiddling, but now they are completely applied. And the Matilde is ready -
Historically not. But if no one tells your uncle Jay about this, he probably won't mind this little error 😇 Normally there are 3 schrouds at the top mast, (i see only 2)

While I'm working on the treenails in the hull of my Mary Rose . It's time for some variety. So now some military models. We build the 38t Hetzer Starr from Attack hobby kits. Not the most fitting and detailed model, but a somewhat exotic Hetzer. General info about the Hetzer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hetzer And the "Starr" variant https://www.armedconflicts.com/Jagdpanzer-38-t-Starr-t12128 Box, parts and plan Building the chassis, this wasn't actually that simple, there was nothing that fits. Cleaning and drilling the wheels All is ready to apply the tracks ( Only the idler wheels could be mounted without fitting and cutting ) ( with a Airfix Matilda hegdehog almost finnished)

Batavia. The curved planks on the stern are a protective layer of soft wood against shipworm. An early form of copper plating.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
