Congratulations Keith on the completion of a great build.  I can't wait to see Lula paired with the pile driver.  I would love to see this model in person to admire the subtle final weathering details.  Great to think of making the hull and wheel "wet".

Congratulations! This has been a fascinating build to follow along with. The techniques used, on such a small scale, have really been something else, and the final result is stunning. Really well done. The model will look excellent alongside the pile driver.

I will need to dredge up more superlatives for this one. You've done such an amazing job of taking a really unique, interesting prototype and making it into something even more unique and interesting. I feel like I can review these photos over and over again, still finding new details to enjoy. This log has added a lot of joy to my life and I thank you for all of it.

Lula is finished.
 
 A special "thank you" to Kurt, @kurtvd19, for pushing me out of my comfort zone and challenging me to take on the project of building Lula. Also, a special "thank you" to Eric. @Cathead, for taking the time to show me how the sternwheeler sausage is made.   
 
 And a huge thank you to everyone for following along on Lula's journey and your most valued support, for your wonderful comments, and for the likes. You folks made this build an absolute pleasure to work on.
 
The base is nothing more than trying to get Lula elevated a little off the maple tabletop. It will not be used for Lula's final display and she and the pile driver will be displayed together. In the next week or so I'll post some photos of the two together in the Gallery section. 
 
 In person the weathering is much more pronounced. For whatever reason my camera is not picking up the weather well at all.  
 
 

 

 
 When I said I was through with construction, I lied. I added the chest on the boiler deck the holds the coal oil, replacement burners, and wicks for the lanterns. It also means not having to explain the why of the high lettering of Lula's name on the forward pilothouse wall. I think it's a perfect fit and addition. 

 

 

 
 I added green algae along the waterline. 

 

 

 
 It's not noticeable but I poly coated the hull, the wheel. and stern wall to suggest wetness.

 I've finished construction on Lula. I still have to do the weathering which I plan on taking a couple of days to complete. I'm going to take it slow and easy and enjoy these last few days working on Lula.

What character in a model, Keith!  I love the lounging cats.....we too have always had one. Our current old man has been living with cancer for over a year after my wife the vet predicted his demise within weeks of diagnosis. She has him on prednisolone (sp?) and he's the same character though a little thinner. To get him to take the prednisolone, we crush the pill in a small bowl and stir it into a wee bit of vanilla ice cream. When we went away to Italy, my son messaged us worried that Ginger was suddenly refusing his medicated ice cream. My wife realized she had bought a different brand just before we left, so told Alex to go out and get a carton of "Kawartha Premium Vanilla" ice cream. Problem solved. 🙄

That's exactly what I was thinking, Eric!  I think Keith made it the perfect width.

 

That wide rail seems like a necessary piece of infrastructure enabling the stable placement of adult beverages as needed.

Keith, If you hadn't mentioned the width of the top rail, it probably would have passed muster. Go easy on any unnecessary corrections!
