    Hi druxey,
I know about this problem. This situation describes David Antscherl in his book of Swan model (the picture from your post is propably from this book). But on the other hand, I have no reason to disbelive informations which was published by Lees and Petersson (both books I own).
Standing rigging is finished, the rudder is in place. Now is the time to prepare the sails.

Still trying to get caught up with my build log posting. Seems this Lyme is keeping me in sick bay more than the shipyard. Another bad bout with it this week and had to change a starter while sick, no fun.

Anyway.....Served and eyed a rope end for the Main Stay. Tried the more elaborate way to make a mouse for it. I have never done this before so I just had to find out how hard it was. Got it done, completed the Mainstay/ lanyards hearts, etc. Even though the heart looks good this way up close under magnification, I just don't see the need for doing it this way at this scale. The next one will be much simpler- winding thread around to proper shape and glue/paint/whatever.

Yeah, that's a lot of work making a mouse, but it came out rather nice. Agree, at this scale it may not be worth your wile, at least not now with battling that lyme beast.
    Hang in JesseLee!

I suggest you include Master Korabel.
I recently purchased their Phoenix Brigantine kit (I bought the plus version that includes the ships boat, higher quality wood and blocks) for a bit under $200 US.
Its quality is truly excellent, and value for money extraordinary.

There are also thirteen very clear online tutorials on youtube for each stage of its build. See an example here: https://youtu.be/c3MmCMmNK2s.

For a someone time poor and without lots of experience, its the best kit on the market.

Good review of its contents here https://youtu.be/1ITBzejbDbA

Thanks Mike Y and Gaetan Bordeleau!
I carved one again, and I use more fine textured box-wood this time. But still made a mistake-her left hand was broken, and it was a pity for me.
Maybe it will be a year later to continue this project, I have to make the drawings of HMS Victory 1765 first, so maybe it's the last update this year.

The purpose of making this project is to verify some strange ideas in my mind. Maybe you will think it's incredible or impossible. For example, I use 3D and CNC technology to planking.Yes,planking! Once i told a friend of mine that I didn't use a saw (manual or power-saw) to make frame of ship model. He asked me, am I crazy?Maybe that's me, and I like to do it in my own way.

    Hello dear friends,
thank you, I am honored to read your words. I'm very happy about that.
Today I started making the double blocks for the backstays. These were attached to the channels. The detail for mounting on the channels has not yet been finally clarified. If you could provide hints and suggestions or pictures,
    I would be very grateful.
Here is a corresponding photo of the model from the Musée de la Marine.

I have been busy adding some details and working on two dories and a larger seine boat.
The kit came with a dory kit made of plywood parts. I bought a second dory and the machine-carved hull of the much larger seine boat. The wall thickness required a lot of work with chisels. I added the decking and fore and aft cubbies. The pump is still covered in masking tape since I will be spraying the primed interior before I add the seats and their supports plus numerous details. The interiors of the dories still have to be sanded and painted as they are also just primed. Note that the new close-up lens I am using shows details not visible to the naked eye.

The jumbo horse was made from flat stock since it needs square ends and the length has to be carefully fitted with the cavils on the ends. It has to be curved to match that of the deck with ends as large as the body so dowels would not work.Once I had the correct length I glued the horse to one of the cavils then rounded it. I then painted this assembly and the remaining cavil and added the ring, which I soldered for strength, before gluing into place.

I made a mistake waiting to install the 14 small cleats. It would have been much easier to install without some of the large items on the deck and before painting. I had to use a Xacto knife to scape away some paint to get a good glue bond.

The BlueJacket came with two-part anchors made of Britannia metal. I made new crosspieces made of African teak, which has very fine grain. The windless assembly is set up for a chain on the port side and rope on the starboard side. The port anchor chain is attached to the ring with a shackle made of brass rod with a pin used as a bolt. Blackening chemicals were used in lieu of paint whenever possible.

And before you get too far ahead,  Here are some pictures of another Contemporary Queen Anne Style Barge with a different color scheme.  This also served as inspiration for mine but I noticed I didnt include any images of this one in my instructions.  Note the absence of a flying transom.  But more interesting is the carved details that are taken all the way up towards the stem.  Also note the additional carvings at the stem.  Maybe one of you ambitious lads are up to this challenge.    A little inspiration as this one really inspired me while building and designing the kit.  I almost used that interesting tiller.....check it out!!!  The queen anne figure is NOT original to the model and it was a replacement for the lost original.  So they left it unpainted.  But the other figures are all contemporary and original.    I designed a what I hope is a great set of bones for you folks (which is the stage that Ben is at right now) but if you look around.....check out the museums... there are unlimited varieties of looks and decorations that this kit can be turned into....should you desire.  I look forward to seeing some interesting and different iterations.  But I do like what I went with as well.

I just loved this build log.
    Such a beautiful ship.
So amazing that she actually sails.
Loved the shots of Maine woods and lakes.
I used to go on vacation from the UK to a little place called Holbrook Pond near Bangor every summer. Your photos reminded me of happy days.
    THANK YOU!

Good morning everyone. Here's a quick update I managed to finish the carronade and also painted the pivot ring. It still needs the wood treenails but you can get an idea how nice it looks and fits to the carriage wheels. The carronade was blackened rather than painted which maintains that metallic look. Also I've started working on the cabin/deckhouse planking the in sides and working months top bits. Overall very pleased

A bit of a change to do some "accessorizing" today.  Lashed 1/16" x 1/16" x 1/2" (6"x6"x4') timbers to fore deck right behind coal hold.  Both coal and timbers are from the actual wreck of the Middleton - I cut timbers from a treenail.  One thing I did find out is that if you cut old wood that has been in the ocean for over 100 years and dried in furnace room for several years, you better clean up the sawdust otherwise you end up with rust on the metal saw table!

Started my first steps with CNC machine. Still a lot to learn, especially 3D modeling, but like the challenge.
After a few basic projects I started with most difficult part of stern decoration. This is no. 3 in row- still not
best and need some improvements regarding 3D shape and machining parameters... Learning...learning...

So have been messing around with spray paints and avoiding bleeds from outside to inside and vice versa. Got a waterline that I'm happy with so will move onto next stage. Will get over the odd blemish here and there. Progress over perfection for me, else risk I give up!
