I patinated and glued the ornament, the back rail glued..👌 Another fight with the modurit and completing the emblem on the mirror.. I've been studying the Doris threads to work with modurite. It's hard to find, so I'll put a link here for a better search.. https://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=110763&p=2259964&hilit=modelování+výzdoby+se+věnuji+již#p2259964 I will allow myself a short message that I contacted Doris, she is fine, but she has put the models away for now.. -

Thank you Johnny. I prefer to use a replica of an older Duyfken ship as a model. I really envy your participation in the construction of Kalmar Nyckel🔥💥 -

Thank you very much Kirill, thank you for the like.. I have repeatedly studied Doris' threads on working with modurite matter. Yes, it's alchemy, it either flows or it breaks.. I was looking for the perfect shape in a book.. According to Doris, he only fired the basic shape..😴 Then he added the little things that always damaged the foundation. Much better after repeated firing and spraying.. During the fight with modurite, I started making the emblem for the rearview mirror..🤨 -

I started making poop deck railings.. Railing decoration. The carvings will be too small, I wouldn't make them out of wood. Production of modurit firing compound. I opened the mod from the previous President build. It is still usable after 8 years..👌 I again studied the instructions of the Czech modeler Doris Obručová for working with modurit and tried the first option.. Rollers approx. 0.6 mm... Temperature 130 degrees Celsius.. Preview, the result will be red.. -
Hello. Bending the wood should be tested so that there is not too much or too little heat. I dip and stroke with solder, still wet, otherwise the wood burns. At some point, the wood softens and behaves like rubber. You shape it, or clamp it, and it hardens into shape. I create a paper pattern with the angle of the bend, I shape accordingly. Stronger wood bends better, very weak slats collapse. Here are my observations.

Hello, Alvb. I had this opinion too, but I found out that the "chains deadeyes" fitting was also above the wales. On a competition model, I try to change only complete nonsense, I leave what could have been. I found boats with chains deadeyes outside Wales. For the rigging I use the Zeehaen ship plan, here the clamping is also over Wales, there only the reinforcement continues.. On the Dutch ship replicas this clamp is also over Wales and looks good.. -

Thank you very much everyone! Deadeyes fittings for besan made of wire 0.4 mm.. I ran into another stupidity in the plan. From a layman's point of view, deadeyes cannot be placed directly on wales. The ropes would break against the broad stern.. I measured the width of the channels.. Channels again secured with steel pins.. Deadeyes attached to the hull.. -

I made the last two sizes of small 4mm wide deadeyes. Again, a system of glued plates and machining at once.. Created a tool for a milling cutter for the production of a 0.4 mm side groove.. All deadeyes after waxing.. I wish everyone a lot of success in the new year 2023, a lot of peace in modeling and, above all, health! -
Hello again Valeriy. It was a very beautiful series. Your ship is one of the models I would like to see in person!!

I gradually make deadeyes clamps called "chains deadeyes". Unfortunately, each piece is a different length.. The first foremast... Placed guport lids are a big risk, I have already repaired..😭 -

Thank you very much Patrick!🙂 Again in big soldering..😵 I make "chains deadeyes" clamps. Brass 0.5 mm.. Drilled holes in the direction of the shrouds.. First placed eyes for "Masthead tackle".. -
Hello Rock. I follow your work. Since I was young, I have associated this ship with coloring, such as the one on the Heller kit. I think that this is the most consistent with the coloring of English ships of that time. But the result of course depends on your decision. I keep my fingers crossed. Ondras

Finally forging deadeyes.. I used different lengths of fittings from the factory. I evened out the slope in the channels.. Belaying pins darkened and waxed.. -

I still work with breaks. Other Small Staghorn harnesses.. More work on the largest triangular Deadeyes. Homemade production is literally done by hand.. I found new options for the MF 70 cutter..👌 side groove.. rounding of edges.. Test with 0.52 mm cable.. -

Thank you all very much for the wishes and likes friends.. Continuation with the production of "belaying pins". The form has been modified a little, the pins are now smaller.. Comparison with the old one, a total of 58 pcs.. Pins on the bow. I have to darken them to make them stand out.. -

Hi guys and thank you. In the end, the boat went to the Czech Championship, it returned unharmed. In the ship components category "C3D", the points went to the gold medal.😲 Satisfaction. But I miss the atmosphere of the competition and meeting with similarly strange people..😭 -

I started making "belaying pins".. I provided the model with mast stumps and some belaying pins to participate in the competition.. ..but this affected me.... So I'm sitting at home...😭

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
