Ondras71 reacted to archjofo in La Créole 1827 by archjofo - Scale 1/48 - French corvette
Continuation: War pennant (flamme de guerre)
I continued with the making of the flags and the long pennant for the La Créole.
The following picture thus shows the finished flags and the flamme de guerre with indication of the original sizes.
In the next two pictures, the war pennant can be seen again on the model, especially the detail on the flag button with the flag line sheared through and the pennant wood.
I provisionally sheared the flag line of the large flag at the gaff through the iron single block at the nock. For the detail to attach the flag line to the eye of the boltrope, I used a toggle as in the original.
Source: Wictionary
However, the final assembly of the flags and the long pennant will be done just before the model is completed, as this fine silk fabric is not very durable.
So until then, off it goes into the "evidence room" with the other "suspects" until the final installation.
To be continued ...
PS: Macro shots are merciless ...

Hello colleagues,
I am very pleased that despite a long break there is still interest in the progress of my model.
A hearty thank you for it.
Completion: Standing rigging for jib and outer jib boom - Bâton de foc et bâton de clinfoc
After the final work on the standing rigging for the jib boom and the outer jib boom, I can also finish this chapter. So the standing rigging for the French corvette is finished except for a few minor details.
Accordingly, here are a few pictures that give an overview of the bowsprit rigging.
Soon I will dedicate myself to the production of the yards. So I am looking forward to work more intensively with wood again.
To be continued ...

@Wishmaster
Thank you vor the kind words. And to all the others, thanks for the LIKES,
The days are getting shorter again, so the times spent in the basement shipyard are getting a bit longer again ... 😁
Continuation: Standing rigging for jib and outer jib boom - Bâton de foc et bâton de clinfoc
This is a continuation of my last construction report.
To finish the rigging work for the standing rigging of the bowsprit with the jib boom and outer jib boom, the jib boom and flying jib boom stays still had to be fastened. The jib boom was stabilized laterally with two jib guys on each side, one of which was fixed by means of a tackle.
Source: Monograph La Creole by J. Boudriot p. 129
For the detail of the tackle I followed the model of L'Inflexible and the Atlas du Génie maritime.
Source: Extract from Atlas du Génie maritime, annexe No. 1, Pl. 10
Attached are two pictures of the implementation and the completed tackles, consisting of double blocks. The ends of the jib guys are then fastened by means of thimbles and seizings.
See you soon ...

Ondras71 reacted to B-Ram in Benjamin W Latham by B-Ram - Model Shipways - Scale 1:48
Hello everyone,
I am continuing to work on the aft deck. Most of the trunk cabin is finished. I still need to add a few components. The wheelhouse is complete. It took me almost two week to get it to where it looked correct.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply.
I plan to make changes based on the pictures that I have collected.
Some of the changes are as follows:
The planking for the kit appears to be too wide. The supplied material with the kit is 5mm. This would equate to an approximately 14" (355.6mm)wide plank. From looking at my pictures, the planks appear to be around 7-8 inches wide. I have read that some kit manufactures generally supply 5mm material for deck planking without regard for scale of the model. In the pictures, the planks may be painted. I can't see any end to end butts and I don't see any nailing. The smokestack (I'm not sure if there is an official name) is round in the kit. It should be a rounded rectangle. On the model, below the foredeck there is no opening. The pictures shows a opening, but I can't tell if there are any doors. More investigation needed. The model vent stacks are way too small and will need to be replaced and repositioned The hull planking is very different from the model. There are a lot more enhancements I plan along the way.
It's going to be fun.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi guys and thank you.
In the end, the boat went to the Czech Championship, it returned unharmed. In the ship components category "C3D", the points went to the gold medal.😲 Satisfaction. But I miss the atmosphere of the competition and meeting with similarly strange people..😭

I started making "belaying pins"..
I provided the model with mast stumps and some belaying pins to participate in the competition..
..but this affected me....
So I'm sitting at home...😭

Finally placed the main guns below deck. Blackening is alchemy, take your time, 1:25 an ideal solution that does not stain..😵
Tangled end of rudder belay rope..
Mounted guns on deck..
Current status..

Good evening everyone, the first frames are glued to the keel with filler pieces and the keys. It was a queasy feeling doing this.

Hello friends thanks for all comments and likes much appreciated.
All frames are ready.
Now all I have to do is black out all the bolts and then they can be set up clean, but it takes a good shipyard to do that. I decided to redo the build plate. There were several reasons why I had to do this.
1. My first construction was made out of old panels, which isn't too bad on the whole. But it arched very slightly. The top plate was new (multiplex beech) so very stable and it will be recycled.
2. Only 6 threaded rods M6 a bit too small for my taste.
3. Most importantly, the center line from bow to stern from the bottom plate to the top plate was offset and so I had a 3mm warp.
So now to the new shipyard: Substructure is a 15mm multiplex board 1250x850 mm with aluminum C-slot profiles.
The whole thing was placed on an aluminum profile frame that has 20x20 mm and 8 M8 bolts.
I wanted to share some more information with you.
With the last bolt I installed a total of 16m of square wire in 52 frames, which is about 30cm per frame per side of a frame between 34 and 48 bolts, I installed a total of 3878 bolts.
Have a good time.
