I got the Myers water pump made and installed. It's been a long time since I've made a piece of any complexity that hasn't been under a roof.

There are 7 pieces to the electric motor and 14 piece to the pump not counting the belt. The water pump pulley isn't a pulley per se but it's the only wheel I had that worked in scale. Those that followed my Tennessee build may recognize it as a sew on clothes snap.

     The electric motor is 0.10 inches W x 0.20 inches L. The pump is 0.275 inches W x 0,50 inches L.

Amazing work, all of the machinery looks incredible. I knew it was small, but the photo with the dollar really brings home just how tiny this model is!

That's an odd assumption to make.

That is a decor model. If that's what your friend's model looks like, then your friend has a decor model, not a scale model built from a kit. If you want to repair a decor model with scale fittings, that's your prerogative -- just be warned that whatever scale fittings you purchase will not be in the same 'scale' as your friend's model, because that model is not built to any scale.

A lot of the rigging on this “interacts”, making it important it seems not to prematurely tighten a lot of it. It’ll be quite the acrobatics to tie some of this off.

Your build is coming along very well.
Here was my attempt at a cover using silkspan. I cut it oversized so it would hang over the sides a bit. I wet it down to fold and bunch it up. Then I glued a long strip of silk span along the edge around the boat. Trying to look like a sewn piece. Then attached some thread as tie downs. The trick is getting the material that folds over the edge to not bunch up too thick.
I have 4 to do on my current build so I am interested to see how your method with the triangular tabs works out.

    More progress with the rigging.

I use flat (without teeth) alligator clips to hold the ends of the lines (that will be tied off later on pins and cleats) so I can tie everything tight into place later in the process.

After some back and forth with the airbrush I am happy with this shade for the boat covers... the picture shows the paper template, the cover pieces cut from the silkspan, and the 20' motorboat...

The triangular pieces are the tie downs (not sure if they have a nautical name or not?) They are just set in place to see how things look. David Antscherl recommends Matte Medium for gluing silkspan pieces together. I have lots of 'No Sew' on hand so I'm giving that a try. I have used it before with great success gluing flags to halliards and anything else involving fabrics. It dries clear and flexible, and once set up it can be washed, so it is waterproof.

Here is the motorboat cover assembled, waiting for the No Sew to dry. We'll see how it holds together when I wet the cover to fit the boat, and when I lash it down... I'm going to give it a day and maybe a second application from the back side... delving into uncharted territory here!
