  1. Nah....I let somebody else do that tedious work. Not sure who I got these from...I had them on hand. I use several shops when buying....brass work or chain. I'm sure Donald McKay had a sub-contractor for small stuff like belay pins and...oh...masts/spars and canvas an stuff.... Typically, I make my own stuff...but it is my way to re-engineer other folks stuff for my purposes. Thanks for the fine comments and encouragement
  2. Thanks Tony. Making the pin rails took a bit of math and some drafting skills. They are not bent into place, they were cut to fit the curve of the hull. I had to determine the curve by using my drafting protractors and draw out the curve on a piece of wood taped to the deck. Then cut along the line and then calculate the under and overhang of the rail, draw that out on the piece of wood and then cut that out as well. Boom , perfect fit and to scale. All I had left to do is mount it and the drill out the hundred or so holes for the belay pins. Both sides in about 3 hours. Rob
  3. Rich, I did set her next to the CS and boy is it a comparison. That is one reason I didn’t like my CS mod for Glory…….because it changed the scale to more like 1/128 instead of 1/96. Now I have a 1/96 of both ships…..so folks can see the real size difference. Rob
  4. George, two notes I would like to point out on my first copper job on the Great Republic I used adhesive to glue the tiles of tape down with their backing in tact but with the Glory of the Seas I remove the foil from the backing and stuck it directly to the hall. Great start, Rob
  5. I defer to your assessment. You’ve been working on her for far more years then me. Perception is everything. Your advice to Vlad is sound. Thanks for hearing me. Rob
  6. Finished up the starboard pin rails. Now onto the channels and chain plates. Enjoy. Rob
  7. I have a few more updates to the build. I am adding the main pin rails. Just finished the port side. Rob
  8. I think you’ll have more success personally when you tackle projects as small individual projects once you finish each small project the larger project starts to come into view. Plus if nothing else, you feel as if you’re accomplishing these small goals which motivates you to continue to the larger goal. Thanks for the wonderful compliments. Rob
  9. Actually Rich, I’ve done some further analysis and if you look at the very clear image that Mike gave us, if you follow the third band around to it’s termination at the bottom of the bowsprit you can see that that band is almost between the tip of the hood and the back of the figureheads head take another look you’ll see. If you look at the third band just on its side it appears to be exactly at the tip of the hood but follow it to its termination on the bottom and that is the actual point where it’s at coming down behind Athena’s head. We don’t have an exact angle from the side like a Profile , But I think it’s clear. Rob
  10. Vlad, you have to do what you have to do. Make what you need to make not what other people think you have to make or what they want you to make. The top Gallant rail looks really good there at the forecastle, I was wondering are you going to continue on down the full length of the hull? So many details it’s almost mindnumbing. Apart from the laser cut bulkhead you provided me I will not be doing any other laser work , all handwork on my model. I can’t wait to see the laser cut scroll work. Great job, love your model. Rob
  11. Thanks bro. Your doing great, can’t wait. Rob
  12. Pat...you are the only one on the planet who will be able to identify the heritage of the rigging line. Your authenticity up to this point has been nothing but stellar. Museum quality had been in your rear view mirror for some time now....I want to see some progress......As you know...I'm the epitome of impatience...can you help me with that? Rob(adoring fan)
  13. Absolutely great drawings Rich. But if I was to add any criticism, it would be that her right arm is too long for her body. From her shoulder to her elbow is out of proportion and from her elbow to her forearm is out of proportion. Chisel them back a bit and you are spot on. Other then that...great 3-D rendering. The physical form is the most difficult for me to replicate. I was only able to partially pull it off...because of the extreme small scale. And still I made ample mistakes...that are forever unretractable. Cuz I ain't going back. I'm anxious to see what Vlad does...short of buying his version from a collector......😎 Rob
  14. Keep pushing ahead Vlad...you can do it. Just make yourself some small goals...don't look at the big picture...stay small and you then can get more done. Small victories. See...I work on the forecastle and the head first.....then I'll move on to the next small task and then the next small task and so forth. I break construction down into tiny bits....and tackle those bits by themselves. If I didn't....looking at the the build entirely will cause me to either become suicidal or homicidal. 🤪 I'm building this girl to completion....hull...masts....rigging. I will be foregoing the sails on this one....because she will be modeled as if she is moored...(Held over), if you will. Like her San Fran image. Rob
  15. A few more pics of Glory. I’ll begin on the head gear and jack stays next. Rob
  16. Pat, it truly isn’t clear. I used photos of her with her anchors mounted and deduced what system might have been employed, during her era. The release mechanism used that is fixed to the cat head is not evidenced on Glory. I came up with the logical conclusion. IMV. Rob
  17. One anchor is in the temp stowed position and the other is hanging from the cat purchase. I thought the various positions would lend to avid discussion when viewing her. Rob
  18. Spent a little time working the starboard anchor purchase and adding the iron fairleads.
