    Hi Ronald The SOS has 64 on the lower decks, 10 on the main deck and 24 murdering guns ( think that's what they are called ) on the upper decks. Denis

    Hi Matti & Karl & Ron Thank you all, but I had a lot of help. Karl the best thing to do is make a mistake and you can go and get more beer cans :D :D just joking ( or am I ). Will not be long till I glue the main mast in place, I have just about finished the mizzen mast and yards. Again thank you all. Denis.

    Hi All I am pleased I did not hang myself as last night I did a test run on the flag, this time with hairspray. To day I took it of the template ( beer can ) and all was OK :D :D :D :D :D :D . I have just done the new flag and looking good :). Will take it off tomorrow and take a photo. I would like to thank you all for the advice. It took a long time but I got there in the end. I had better get back to them ratlines :angry: :angry: :angry:. Denis.

    Hi All Much to the admirals disappointment I did not hang myself over the flag :D :D next I will try hairspray. Hi Bindy lets hope the hairspray works ;). Hi Nils thank you for them words, it's nice of you to drop in on my log , thank you. More photos in a week or two. Denis.

    Hi All Cut the beer can up and bent it to the shape I wanted, put the flag on and coated it with the fabric stiffener, left it over night. Took it of today and it just went flat :angry: :angry:. Put it back on and coated it up with diluted PVA wood glue, left it for 4 hours and coated it up again. Will see what happens tomorrow. If I don't post a photo you will know I have hung myself ha ha.     Hi Mark I have tried the fabric stiffener on some polyester that the wife got me so I could experiment with it, and it worked out very well. I think the flags that I had made are polyester, but not sure what ink or paint they used. The fabric stiffener did not leave any staining at all. I just love the idea about the beer cans ( will go out tomorrow and get 2 dozen ) well you have to experiment with the shape do you not ?? :D :D :D :D :D and there are 5 flags. Joking apart it's a very good idea , thank you Mark. Now I know why Model Ship World is the best forum for model ship building. With people like your self and others passing on what you have all learnt over the years to people like me, thank you all. Denis.

    Hi All I forgot to add this I have got some fabric stiffener , I am experimenting with it so I can get the flags to look like they are blowing in the wind. I have to cut some plastic tubes up first for a mould before I do the flags. Denis.

    Hi Popeye It's not the first time I have painted myself into a corner . I have decided to put all the yards and sails on the main mast like I did with the foremast, but will leave the main yard off till it's glued into the deck, then do the bottom shrouds and ratlines after that is done I will fit the lower main yard and sail.. Denis.

    Hi All Thank you Popeye and all for your support on my build of the SOS. I have finished all the blocks and rigging on the main mast and yards etc. I have also done the setting out of the sails tonight, tomorrow I will start to stich ( sow ) them all up. I will do anything to keep me away from doing ratlines :D :D. Denis.
