Hi Piet, your metal work is meticulous.....as if I expected different.  I'm getting close to attempting my Harpoons....maybe this weekend, I'll break out the solder equipment, and I'll have my Byrnes drawplate to make the handles....might be good to go.....thanks, my friend....I wish I lived closer so I could see her again up close and personal.....lol...amazing how your little anchor  actually works.....

Well, one thing about waiting for something in the mail, is that you get to do a lot of fiddly little stuff.  So, today I made 2 bits, a small ladder, added bucket hangers, made the anchor chain pipes, cut and trimmed the anchor chains and wrapped them around the windlass and back to the anchor chain pipes for stowage below decks.  Next I have been studying the dreaded Tryworks.  I started with the foundation framing for the Tryworks which is where I am right now.  The anchor chain is larger than the kit chains, so I couldn't use the cast Brittania parts that came from MS.  I took a dowel, and drilled a hole in it, then filed it to where the walls were thin, yet allowed the chain to go through it.  Tedious in that I had to drill them by hand, cut with a razor saw without breaking them....same for the frames.....needless to say this took quite a lot of time....and about 8 trys before I got it done.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do when the drawplate arrives...I guess I'll stop and make enough harpoons and lances to fit in the racks under the Shelter Roof, then put on the roof and then come back to the Tryworks.

Hi Dave, here's a few pictures of the 24 pounder from Model Shipways.  It should give you a reference of scale.  It is 1:24 and if you need measurements let me know.  Hope this helps.

Hi Mobbsie, wow, looking really great.  I still have some furniture to build before I get where you are at, but you have given me a great education on how I'm going to do it.  Do you by chance have any plans or instructions for constructing you serving machine.  I am going to need one and thought I would copy yours if you have no objections....or just some dimensions and gear sizes...anything would help Mate, if Sjors can figure it out, I shouldn't have any problems with it.....lol.....sorry Sjors, culdn't resist......Take care Mate....thanks

Mobbsie, great and tremendous progress as usual....
If you continue like that your Aggie will be sailing for March!
Some pictures (and plans?) of your serving machine should be very useful for a lot of friends!
(and probably for me too, but in a couple of years).

Here's yesterdays progress pictures.  Just the Fife Rail and bilge pumps.  The dowel is for alignment while gluing all of it to the deck.   Actually I'm not procrastinating on the harpoons, I am waiting for my Byrnes Drawplate to arrive, so I can get the dowels right....should be here by Saturday.  I hear they are wonderful to work with ...... so, we'll see.....meanwhile I'll be either making some harpoon heads, or getting ready to build the the next "mini build" ---the Tryworks......I guess I get to break out the bricklaying or mason skill for this one.....just another hat in the shipmodel world

Thanks Scott, it's the little details on these things that set them apart.  This group of guys on these builds demand and expect it....Kidding, but of course it does seem to prompt this......keeps me trying to perfect things.......

Hi Dave, just now catching up with the logs.  I like the way your pumps came out.  Lot's been going on and had a bunch of honey-do's to get out of the way.  Going to get some work done in the next few days.  I think your pumps came out at a good scale. Hope all is well my friend....

    Hi Grant,

I'm sure the Byrnes Thicknesser will get a good workout . I wouldn't be without mine - it's nearly a "must have" tool for any scratchbuilder.

Here's a tip - when you start making sawdust don't throw it away. Stick it in a jar, label it, and use it for filler (mixed with PVA when you need it). Do the same for all the types of wood you sand and you'll never run out .

BTW - do you have a Byrnes Disc Sander? Another extremely valuable asset - or was that what you were hinting at ?

I was able to get back to the pumps the last few days. I am afraid the deck took a little beating up in the process. In addition the pumps are a little too close at the mid-deck level - but they are not so far off the mark. As a result of moving them they are now away from the gun actions. Again, I sized the pumps based on the 6" diameter in the inner tubes. I think I am close on the scaling. Although the crew will not be utilized I placed a member near the pumps for perspective. I am much happier with this revision overall.
