    Wow.. Now I have it Glenn,...that's how you do it. I will most definitely be looking into your Pegasus build for the tips.     Sorry Glen, I may of obviously may of used the wrong word or barking up the wrong tree. Put maybe another way, imagine looking directly from the very front of the Bow so that you see both sides of the hull, right,. then looking at the planks on one side and seeing the outermost edge of the plank on your model there seems to be no hairline gaps between any of your planks. I would of thought that there would be particurly at the waist. So what I am asking as the planks fit so tight to each other do you so called maybe sand one edge of each plank? If you maybe do is there a particular way of doing that and would this be on each plank? Sorry to be a pain Glen Kier

    great looking hull Glen,, so smooth can I ask regarding your tapering, how exactly did you go about putting a bevel to the plank (sander or just a file ?) I am trying to learn. my first build, (no log) was the Bluenose 11 of which I used no bevel on the planks what-so-ever, there may not of had to have a bevel being a clipper but the Vanguard you definitely need it but have never known how to do it. any chance you can help?

    wow what can I say Alexey I have never seen a build with so much detail on it. truly a fantastic build that makes me feel like giving up on my future build which I haven't yet started. still, keep it going I'm watching you:) kier

    hello to all you ship builders. I have a quire regarding the rabbet that has me scared to touch although I honestly wish to use to do it properly. I am looking into doing a double planked hull. I had built the bluenose- billings before..sorry no log, but I didn't use a rabbet and my hull looked square at the bow...yuk! doing a double planked hull:- 1...should the rabbet be twice as wide to accommodate both layers or- 2... only the one but for the inner planking or outer - 3...if twice, how do you attach the first layer but leaving enough for the second. If anyone could help me with this problem it will be most helpful to me as I have looked at many logs on MS W but to no avail. :( please help kier

    Hi Augie, fantastic build and admired by many. Could you please help with using morope for your rigging? I have seen many builders using it for their so called build and it must be very easy by using it with nice looking taught lines. My only question with using it is how does it work for the shrouds-ratlines to remain taught when the rope comes across the upright ropes, in other words crossing each other but both taught? Any help will gratefully appreciated. kier

    Hi Jesse, I like your idea regarding mending your bulkhead frames with a tooth-pick. never heard of that method before, but it seems great considering I've heard before that the box-wood is very fragile. keep up the good work, I shall be following along- kier

    Hi to all ship-mates of MSW, Can anyone help with a conundrum I have regarding 'the striping of planks. I have been trying to find any info.. regarding the striping of planks to no avail. I am of course speaking of the different widths of a plank from bow to stern at each bulk-head. Obviously the strip (plank) is not straight, which would mean a simple straight cut from one end to the other. BUT....planking a hull properly the hull curves from stem to stern change. Although I know how to plank (with difficulty) my question is...- how does one cut the different widths of each plank as it curves , eg- cut or sand? if sanding how, or the best method any shipwrights that can help please would be most appreciated many thanks kier

    Hello Daves, thankyou for your info I have looked at the site and noticed the so called steamed pink/pear wood which to myself (unheard of) I saw the actual colour of that and .. no! I am looking for a golden colour for the hull and other possible fixtures as the grain of the wood is good despite being hard wood (if correct). Thanks kier

This will be very good for the future as many members of msw use it and swear by it. despite looking on many sites I had never heard of 'twigfolly.com'.     Hi to all, can anybody help regarding pear stripwood ? I have been looking for a UK supplier of the wooden strips but can only find pear sheets. Can somebody help if possible or is sheets only available. any help would be appreciated kier

    Hi to all you boat builders Should I have a garboard strake on hull? I'm currently planking the Hermione la Fayette - scale I=89 AL. All the planks for the hull are a measurement of 2mm x 5mm but no such garboard strake included in the kit. I have built the Bluenose-// AL, witch there was no problem at all. The Hermione.... is a bluff bowed French frigate witch I thought should have a garboard strake? There is no such garboard plank in the kit so i'm baffled as to weather it should? also if yes should I make one from that sized plank? Your answers to this question would be most helpful Kier Warning!!!!! i'm still learning

    Hi to you all, i'm currently buiding the Hermione la Fayette-AL and I'm not sure on the start of my planking. The planking plans supplied states to start from the bottom of the fenders and up to the deck, weather this is correct i'm not sure. Also is this the 'wale' and should these planks be 'tapered' ? I've been racking my brains over this question for days because I do not wish to crash my planking by a mistake witch may mess up my correct positioning of my gunports. can some body help with this dilemma? thanks Kier

    can any one state what is the best form of filler prior to sanding? I regard myself as new to the hobby although I have in the past built the billings Bluenose, I am now building the AL Blunose11 & wishing to make no visible problems
