Update :
today, fitting out some of the crew-life under deck...., as long as there is still some access to the interior.
The combination (table with sitting benches) was assembled within the ship with tweezers etc....
Nils
All figurines scale 1:48
the hull single-planking is with 6 x 1,5mm planks....
the standing hight midships is not too much, but it gets better towards bow and stern
the hull pencil-marking left in the pic is the waterline.....

Update :
Made the stove for cooking on deck, but moved it under the sheltered deck, it will get a chimney through the deck above later on.
Also for the doubts of those finding the rudder possibly a bit slim, I increased the width by 1,5 mm....

Keith,
next to the fresh-water barrel, this one is also one of the utmost important barrels on board....

Update :
on the deck outcut side i put the braces on that hold the 9 side gratings in place. The 7 port guns will be arranged between the gratings, with barrels tied up at the upper bulwark, and the carriages tightly rigged for non battle mode. The starboard guns will be pointing out through the gun-ports.
I am concidering if eventually I should show the sweeps in their oar-port positions, at least on one side....

Mirabell61 reacted to xken in Maersk Detroit by xken - 1:354 scale - Container ship
I have repainted the balls to red and green per feedback from Evan. He said that is the way they should be when repainted. I also bent up both a ladder way and railing for test fitting and sizing. Based upon my initial count I will need a second sheet of ladder ways. Here are a couple of pictures; one thing I found helpful was spraying a light coat of white primer on the railing to hold pencil marks for bending. This Nav. deck I think is the hardest one piece rail to bend and will be final fitted when being glued down once painted white.
Now back to final fitting and fussing with the various decks.

Mirabell61 reacted to Blue Ensign in HM Cutter Cheerful 1806 by Blue Ensign - FINISHED - Syren Ship Model Company - 1:48 scale
Cheers Guys
Well a week or so has passed and nothing really to show, but I have been busy reading logs and I feel grateful for three fine builds by Rustyj, rafine (Bob) and Stuntflyer (Mike) in addition to Chuck's own initial build, to refer to.
If I come anywhere close to those examples I will be a happy man.
As an aside I have treated myself to a couple of Proxxon goodies to add to my collection.
A Thicknesser/sander, (DH40) and a Surface Planer (AH80) plus some spares, and mill bits.
As with previous purchases I obtained the machines from Germany.
https://www.tbs-aachen.de/
.....and saved myself £118.00 over the UK supply price.
I always feel a certain trepidation whenever I start a new build, and I tend to spend a fair bit of time fiddling with the first stage bits before I get the pva out.
3079
Looking at the two false keel halves, they don't seem to join square at both top and bottom. Maybe the tongue of the Jigsaw join is a tad long.
3078
The second task will be to glue a Rabbet strip (⅛" x1/16")- 3.2mm x 1.59mm along the stem, bottom and up the stern of the false keel.
This strip doesn't seem to have been provided in the Crown Timber package but they do supply a 1/16"" thick sheet of boxwood which would require a ⅛" strip cutting off.
3104
Fortunately I do have some 3.4mm square Boxwood strip and this provides me with a perfect opportunity to bring my new Thicknesser machine into use.
3103
It brought the 30" length of 3.4mm boxwood strip down to 1.59mm consistently along its length. Being new to this machine I took quite a few light passes to familiarise myself, but I think it will be a very useful addition.
A question to those who may have this machine, when feeding narrow strip thro' is it normal for it to move across the planing table without maintaining a straight line? it doesn't seem to affect the cut but is a bit disconcerting to a new user.

JUst look at the quality of the Gun Port linings. Mine are terrible by comparison
Would agree with the comments about copper plating the planking. Possibly do one side. I actually have the guns run out one One side and the other with the ship close up.
Copper plating is again a bone of contention. It was laid like tiles on a roof. Starting from the stern working forward and , I think, on a Royal Navy ship from the keel they where laid over each other. The problem her is that they are too thick and the edges show. Particularly if you start at the keel. Looking down the plates the edges show. Starting at the Waterline and working down it is smoother.
Amati do plates that allow them to be laid side by side. They have left and right so they can be laid properly but they are expensive - about 22.00 for 350 ish. They also have an advantage that they are etched so quit large "blocks" could be laid at a time.
Allows for the beauty of the hull to be seen
Victory has the Lower POrts closed. Probabvly because of the weight of the Guns
The rigging of the Guns in the instructions for the model are NOT complete
There are three ways to rig the guns.
1. As shown Close for the sea. Note the tackle is rove round the ropes to tidy it all up. Unusable. Actually the barrel should be rove up against the side of the ship
2. Cleared for action. Extra rope coiled by end of tackle (Picture 1)
3. Fired. Gun run out for reloading (Picture 3)
NOTE also the tackle to the sides of the ship is Single and double. The rear tackle is two doubles.
Have added 3 shots from

Thes two paintings were presented to the Governer of Arkhangelsk Provence, and the Mayor of the city, by the British Ambassador to Moscow. The presentation was to mark the beguining of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the first Convoy to Russia in WW2. (Operation Dervish)
Both paintings are of the arrival of SS Llanstephen Castle at Arkhangelsk from diferent angles.
Photo of the presentation (Grey beard is the British Ambassador, the other is Governor Orlov)

Good evening again, my time is limited, I accelerated and finished loading the ship inside. For finishing I will use a little bit of polyester putty.
So much for today, a beautiful evening to have.
