  1. Congratulations George for fine execution of this mammoth task of making clipper. I enjoyed it much Vlad
  2. wau, Hudson river sloop is just gorgeous. Cant wait personally. it will be cracking model to take after some clipper totrure. thank you for making those. Vlad
  3. Very nice build Luis. wish you luck whatever ship you consider to pick, just one advice, it is easier to think it out before start if ship is doable/ or at least enough researched by measures from body to rig... and it isvVery interesting read throughout thread. Thank you all. Vlad
  4. Spanker &co. thanks eveyone for orevious look, etc...I srarted wirking on spanker. slowly slowly. but some initial things been done, throtle halliard, lifts... still a lot to do as its a big sail. thank you for looking etc.. good weekend all, till next .... rear companionway is missing as undergoing slight improvement v.
  5. i like boat Rich, but i think i will rig another one i have built. so no new boat building for some time thanks anyway.
  6. Rob, coming this from you I take as big compliment. Rigging of these vessels are second nature to you and im still shaking head how the hell you accomolished whole set in smaller scale. one must try it to realise its really someyhing extraordinary... but already crossed chilcoots pass on my way to klondike im happily working on remained small stuff as spanker rudder and remainijg rig. feel free to comment indeed. by now I already eat underhill book crisscrossing it wih pencil i just prefer visual explanation i guess. :)) im going to work on michael questiin now, dare say if im up to sort out that conundrum of question. let aside undersrand it properly. :))) all enioy of whats left of summer.
  7. Hey Rich. lovely to hear from you. I already asked myself if everything is ok. Thanks for suggestion, ill look into it. i guess im back on track, already preparing spanker booms for rig.
  8. Thanks everyone for viewing interst etc. no update this time just a little window with what will be next .... im maybe 5 years within modeling hobby and as time prgressed, I realized how many years takes to finish one project. I totally understand why many orefer smaller shios of brigs or sloops of 2 masts etc..... havung said that im inclined ti that directuin as well. Finiahing glory I must confess im no more interested in clippers at all and vessels after 1800 ad whole. why? to put it straight. - im interested in 1700-1800 rigging. No soldering and huge ironworks that makes rigging somewhat easier or complex depending how to view it.....but fact i never rigged 18 century boat is positively hunting me...i just love that view. and want to try it. but rigging 18 century 3 repetitive masts frigate must be even more ardous task than glory is. im sure of that.... im simply at verge what boat to choose for few upoming years to keep my winters occupied and fullfilled... i know many start couple of works and skip between them according to mood etcetera... one thing sure. wirking on full scratch glory more than 3 years now , with all research and conslultations, dismiss this, dismiss that, tryouts, doubts etc.....really exhausted me at thus point. i say it was extreme fun and i liked every bit of it but...... all process made me feel tired from pure modeling view.... I know how muxh easier is to have some perfect plan if everything researched and dine and just relaxing work. this is what i want to do next. definitely. as i I obtained some machinery im now wirking on proper modeling room not to mess up my living room with dust anymore. will see how it turns out. Im already tired. so far contemplating about.... 1. joining Chuck sloop speedwell band .idea of having pof made and continue my way is great. 2. I love massive french frigate egyptienne of which i already started gallery carving but...its rigging wull be huuge work which putts me if a bit not saying if cinstructing vessel. at least years befire it materialised... 3. Im eyeing two smaller french ships of 18 century era that tick my aesthetic boxes and are really interesting frim my piint of view. bomb vessel salamandre https://ancre.fr/en/monograph/32-monographie-la-salamandre-galiote-a-bombes-1758.html and brig Le cygne..... sorry if uninteresting not glory related post if thoughts merely if dufferent topic... im just contemplating my day. i see how this work slows very much with older comolicatex boats and it maies me realized I would rather pick one i like most rather carefully... all best V.
  9. Thanks Pat, yea I made those myself. better out i heavily midiefied existed bigger deadeyes by remiving part of it etc...:) its indeed ardous task this rigging. V.
  10. Im really relieved and glad ti hear from you Rich. was asking myself if its everything allright there. what can i say, yes I progressed very much with goal to cintinue to finish her aoon as i am really really close. All best until then..? V.
  11. Clewlines & more clewlines. After week of working I reached point where it finally gives me pleasures and rewards instead of sweat and torture. I wont repeat clewlines process, its basically singld blocks whip one side sheet shacke and at the mast side its quarter block shackle.... Climgung higher up masts I used smaller 3.5 & 3 mm blocks and 0.3 mm thread. Im dine with threads but thanifully more on the way so I can start last chapter. Braces, soankervyards yards, bowsprit imkisions as jib sheets etc... I intentionally omitted lower yards clew garnets to make space ti do cleanups and lanyards endings....I must say, making beige running rigging was hardest work so far for me. i can see the end now... so systematically.... lower yards lifts installed. main rails completed, ropes fastened. at this point yards are straightened by ropes and I managed to use wall in my room to take iverall pics of ship... next chapter. more cleanups, preparation of vertical sails sheets rigging, spanker, cler garnets and braces, studding yards... many thanks for watching, comments etc..
  12. Congratulations. it was treat for eyes and joy to watch every bit of this masterpiece indeed. V.
  13. Hello boys and girls :)) havent been here for some time, but there is update at least and i hope regularly from now on. i need to check everyones progress, and feeling ashamed as havent checked Michaels Mjelde question. hopedully this week. this summer is crazy with work. well... to model - i cant believe how fast rope thread went, already in need of another and blocks as well. i finally moved and was able ti make and insrall all reamaining chain blocks as well... there is one quite major revision ! due to lack of space around masts I am to hang purcjased lift on lower yards and use already made purchases for higher yards needs. .... it orogresses very slowly as space around mast is tight. and i swear a lot. finally temperature lowered and we had one week of rain and breeze so I put acnice t days for making purchases to finish yards rigging before last chapter of standing rigging - right left yard navifagation , vertical small yards and spanker....i hope i will imorive my rugging skill after this boat. a bit. practice makes...:) thabk you for support... couple of preparation pics.
  14. Looking great George, oh seeing all backropes of mast hung, I feel you. i see you do enjoy work. perfect V
  15. Hey, how is everyone ? Im sorry, there is no spare time beyond summer work to sit and continue modelling.. i would need few days to get practise back ti hands and it comes with autumn late october rains im affraid. though I finally have all spare parts... but...glorys rigging must wait... wishinv all luck everone and have lovely summer All not to worry i will be here whole winter as usually :)) hopefully. Vlad...
  16. oh yes wow. wonderful outcome. i myself am contemplating to rig winchelsea, surely this will become my prototype guide. Thank you for doing it and sharing. Vlad.
  17. Thank you for compliment and useful response Mike. Ah well, you may have than missed clipper glory of the seas - now fully rigged in progress :)) ! and thank you very much for pointing to some direction. im located in europan union obviously but shipping of unmasted boat is less painfull finantialy as well... i guess price of work could be handled directly to satisfaction on both sides after there is interest... I used to be in touch with reseller from germany who recently passed away and closed business ....i see some "premier ship model sites with strange models " at last to me...wooo hooo... anyway i would leave it here for some time now... V.
  18. Hi all, well ...sort of unusual post from me...but its part of mshipworld and better in community here I guess before I turn into oblivion of ebay :)) I decided to let myself made 1:48 winchelsea ( syren ship) go for the reason I can keep hobby afloat. If there might be small intetest at least :))) im writing here ss if you may know someone in UK or US whom would model make happy for little more than I paid for parts or if someoje would like to continue rig her......tons of hours not counted. I would happy overall. I dont like to mesh with quality terms like "museum" blabla we all know what it means someones work is showing itself, i guess likes on pages showed at least few portions of overall huge commitments could fall into category...:) some parts were myself made...color is pretty much true to famous Greenwich museum protityoe model was taken of off... my honest log is very well open here and here is few photos of process. maybe I could make nice stand as we go... many thanks, ... few pics in my dropbox ... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/33dbuwhldr7pfrgg2xrle/h?rlkey=b3c74u4ckqfoyggo1lec76a9w&dl=0 thanks much Vladimir, Slovakia
  19. Hi Dusan, thanks. It was long time ago but Im sure it was mixture of bitumen paint by rembrandt - its called asphaltum extra oil paint mixed with linen oil...very small drop of paint with oil ...i used almost dry brush technique just tiny amount on figurehead to take effect...ship wood is french polish - dark flakes but i will never do it again. will learn wop.
  20. good day Folks. finally ...finally chapter 12. My own poor instalment didnt her any credit. I must say it was most difficult of all parts. still not finished from side under cathead ...but im quite satisfied with outcome so far . its not as clean work as few of you but anyway. here it goes...thanks follr looking in. and now..m is there anyone to rig winnie? i know everyones eyes are sat on new pof l, but still. i guess i will skip that one. prices and tax have gone crazy lately....
