  1. Running rigging of fore sails. Good day. I see easter holidays are upcoming. Third one as we fidle with glory. I must say my objective is evolving with my previous intentions as far as rigging. will see how far i am to go. first, this build is getting more and more expensive :):( as im not blocks and rope maker...oh well. than, I must say one must study pretty hard to get picture of what clewing to bunt or up to yard arms means and so on.... I heavily rely on Underhill, Robs observation and thankfully EdT young america - is probably best visual explanation of different clipper. and I rely on everyone I can find and understand a clue....I can clearly say even Underhills book is godsend, its definitely not written with simple guy in mind . at least visually. or maybe my english is barrier...anyway I must say I regret not having Crothers rigging book. I never seen one in person but from Crothers other book i really like his writing style. There is many issues I run into. bowlines ? yes or no..i can say from EdT build there was ton of remarks, ....so . I hope stepping carefully around her. i dont know why i picked glory for my first rigging, but must say, with running rigging fun starts. surgical instruments :))) ship looks agaij but different and nicer in my point of view with more beige lines... and yes i quickly run out of blocks and ropes so there will be pause again. anyway it looks like this project will reach another year as I wont hurry. Im going to attach lines blocks at shrouds meanwhile... i started with fish tackle, with its huuge 15" blocks , usually triple double or diuble double...and so on. all jibs haliards, that run thru blocks one end fastened at standing other running thru lead block and via first two hles at top down to furst fife rail pin..retc... forsake of weight of sails, haliards run thru blocks should be shacked together with downhauls that run aling bowsprit to forecastle. here is again rule starboard port etc... i would be thnakful for any remark or obsetvation comment if something goes wrong. well. here we go. oh and blocks. i finally got these pear blocks that are fabulous to work with i must say. ni more fidling for hours. im surprised how long rigging takes. even fish tackle toik me 2 hours and thats one rope literally. but getting drift... thanks anyone for viewing and happy Easter to everyone ahead ..
  2. oh no Rob, no way. besides i still dont have tracking blocks on shrouds... im going only sheets as they go with sails removed. but i can tell, doing this on mounted yards on ship is going to be pita thing. this will be painfully slow....well enough crying.
  3. good day Rob, its all alright overhere, i know with my frantic pace it looks suspicious when suddenly calmness, hh. youre slightly ahead with your suspision, because i was waiting for restocking blocks inventory. but yeaj thet is the plan. i already arrange summer works so modeling pause - but i just want to finish glory until summer hits here. and i have one more surprise as far as glory. but leave it for later thanks for watching, i got word from post that blocks are landing so im in work in few days when rainy. as soon as something complete materialised, ill post update. it continues. have good days ahead v.
  4. Folks, I would like to highlight this moment of march and turn your attention towards Richards@ClipperFan article in this months NRG journal volume about out Glory of the Seas. Big thank you Rich for masterfully written article and also to Rob for both their profound many years knowledge about glory, and what is sensational was collaboration with Michael Mjelde, foremost authority on subject and with his photography collection not materialised in his previous plans and drawings, we used. for what started as geunine interest went on and on as turned into quite intensive and detailed research as new photographs appeared etc. I believe this rare colaboration may be future help to anyone who might come into interest in this vessel or could use it with new views, evidences, or that might arise and so on. This is by no means complete study for many missing links and reasons, yet its undisputedly closest so far in many ways. i want to thank everyone else not mentioned also for helping out in any possible way, either by pointing out towards anything of importance, or commenting and watching this 3 years plus work. V.
  5. well Rich speaking of, ..first, thank you for interest about my next ship installment which would be absolutely wonderful french super frigate Egyptienne of year 1799. i have asthonishingly complete plans from ancre france so its worth checking on their site .there are two period carved models is in french museum, both with quite different carvings motives. but i warn you Richard. you wont look at mine after you see what were randiose masters of bygone era capable of ...anyway you are flattering me enormously Rich but exaggerating at same time. well, lets leave it ..:) so than, pyramids and goddes looking into mirror was thankfully done with my nervousity all around the place. .. i dont want to talk about it as I think very little about it..its a bit simplified again without crocodile... i tried to make sure no hairy corners and so on. so i guess im at least glad, that surface strokes are much clearer now and even so i hope carved surface is smoother and cleaner tban before . i hope at last that objects are identifiable. im just happy its over and i can focus on second floral part where i feel much more confident and i will find more happiness making slowly. will post after completed. i must sau this was very difficult for me as person should stand out far more than pyeamids so i had to bury pyramids first with two layers and body is still not 3 d enough bug flatter than should be. but true is, if anyone thinks carving is easy, i would say to try. its valley of tears, for first second third and 50 time :))) V. od
  6. very nice work on yard George. I aplaud at making gin blocks, theybare fabulpus. I didnt bother makijg them myself for difficulty. as far as sheet blocks, they are indeed tticy bastarfs I made mines out oc wood in 1:72 scale for biggets yards but im not that happy with them and still need many for upper yards. they are tricky to makev to look natural in scale when chain going tgru those. I wish you all luck getting them done but i have no doubts seeing how perfectly you made gin blocks. looking fwd. V.

  8. Thanks much. i think critical phase is over, your cutty reefing details and complete rig and all stuff pushes me to go on as well as this is my first rigging, trying to learn from mistakes for sure.

Halliards & spreaders, finish of standing rigging First off I want to thank everyone for supporting and encouraging words after almost losing mast. i promised myself to keep this log honest ni matter whwt happens. having confidence shaken, I wont replace already made spreaders , even there are no hooks on th. i decided to tie stays simply to them with tiny fishing wire. by the way I used those for haliards as well. this part of rigging is becoming patience proof. three types of tweezers were my best friends. literally. moving to haliards. Every rope should be high level of organisation - multiplied. as i move further, I srart undersranding how tough must be buntlines rigging etc. I decided I will finally go for sheets rig but only sheets with chains as its on yards without sails. its long journey ahead as I will need to assble new set of blocks and next chapter will be spanker & co whicj i need to make so i will pause posting for a while. To work done - basically. if i understood underhill haliards correctly, most impoortant is that they dont cross backstays but run paralel to them . just under them. thry go from imside part of spreaders while stays go from outside. Lanyard oj purchases should not be twisted...that was most effort. it went very slowly because of difficulty assembling eyes on blocks thru which lanyards should go freely....thats bqsically all fof this cjapter and episode. wjem all finished its still much place in boat. even there is spider net of lines already. i will leave photos speak themself despite of few errors sharp eye wont miss. personally im happy i left spreaders there, after accident im far more scarier with moving around her. one more thing. i plan cleaning footropes next. some unglued due past work so i didnt correct that im looking forward to next chapter that will be making spanker booms spencers, running sheets & braces preparations etc. itll take few months i guess. enough talking. thank you for viewing and coements etc...   10. uff. all 3 booms are shipshape up tied firmly with haliards and stays. . I would not be able to sleep if not. i dont want to face ut again. later i will add halyards and all backstays are hanging waiting for tying up. thankfulully....thank eveyone for encouraging words.... slowly forward V.

Youre so sweet guys, speaking of, mast is up. damage is extensive indeed but most important is thwy mast is secure and straight. i run copper wedge thru both so i didnt damage ladders and stuff only one collar to be made.i had to literally cut off all bacsktays lanyards up from topmast but that is easy peasy work. now i will continue halyards first with yards and securing and tying up backstays up high ....this occurence scared me a lot and reminded me that little not paying aytention can pay dearly. just touched lanyards and whoaaaa. so back to main mast repair slowly. i hppe i will tie ropes even better and nicer than previous ones. better not to drive holes next ropes or ...very catefully next time.... mast up....im nit sure how i proceed with fairlead for halyard but its just what it is now...:( there is copper wedge inside :))

Yeah tell me bout it. probably constructionally sooner than mentally . traces of disaster everywhere, she looks like frigate after battle now. i already bave i plan and if that works i will be spared of all work again. i will attempt to drive strong straight wedge in both masts to join it and strenghten tipgallant top with collar. fingers crossed. it that works i could move all rope eyes where before just lanyards for backstays will be cut off and redo.... fingers crossed Rob. there is some bad omen with this ship or ptobably with my clumsiness :///. with halyards its already way too many ropes there. not able to understands how on earth you did buntlines in 1:96.
  13. accident. just when i was finishing halyards and in good pace with moonsaioll yard on, screwing hole for last halyard, drill bit got one backstay and all hell broke loose. im nof sure if recovering from this you dont want to see it .. just highest yard was on few moments before... royal and skysail masts are gond broken just at its hell with all rigging. catastrophe im now going tilo spend rest of the day thinking if there is a way to insert metal tube inside broken pieces so i wint need to scrap weeks of work from start. ouch ouch.
  14. thank you very much George. though middle part with pyramids and figure with mirror scares me more. i never did person so Im lost. will probably mock it up elsewhere first not to ruin whole pannel. will see. meanwhile assembling blocks for glorys braces ( quite a lot) and spars for spanker.... V.
