If you hate tying hundreds of knots you can always try how I do it. No knots. Just 50:50 white glue. It's fast. Here is some pics off my still in construction Friesland.

Hey Anton. Hopefully the decision making is going well. And the carved lions heads coming along great. Things have certainly slowed down on my Friesland. But still plodding along.

Hey Mich. I like defined lines on my deck planks so I do all sides.
The photo is abit blurry but this is the result of all sides of the planks done.
When I color, I don't press too hard. Just enough to get a good shade on the edges.

I use the pencil method as described and with great results just luke Russ. Instead of doing each plank individualy, I clamp 10 or so together and color all of the sides. Alot quicker.

Looking good. Be careful of the white metal gunport frames as they stick out alot. I spent forever sanding them down to accept the second planking. on my Mamoli build.

Good idea with the extra bracing. I have done this also and I'm glad I did.

I remember installing theses beams on the friesland. The only one out of my Mamoli ships to have them. But be careful as the hull still is in danger of a little warping.

Great job. I do love the washes you do. The ships boats on my Friesland are stacked like yours, With NO plans for chocks between the two. Now after seeing you scratch your own chocks I will take you up on this idea and do the same Beautifully done.

S.Coleman got a reaction from Sargon in To use full length planks or not. (EDIT BY MOD)
Its best on a double planked hull to use full length planks on the first layer, This way you get the nice even shape of the hull. Then the second layer with scale planks are easily layed with the right contours.

All the best! Of all the tools you already have, The best tool when used correctly is patience.  But I'm sure you well and truly understand that one. I have not myself built a POF but there are certainly a few on here that have.
I see the Syren is quite popular.
    Welcome aboard.
