Pavol, I went one better and found THIS guy's build of the same kit. I've had to use the pics a few times to work out how to build some parts, and where they went .

I did that . No discoloration is visible to the eye and they are VERY strong.

Thanks for the link to the tracks. I didn't find that one, but that's not unusual for GPM's site which is rather difficult to navigate sometimes .

And thanks too for the site with that beautiful model - an inspiration indeed .

Thanks Mark and G'day Hof. I definitely had a cutaway in mind before starting the model, but the more I got into it the more I realized it would be virtually impossible with this particular one. I could have made nearly the whole top, from the front of the turret to the back of the engine cover, in one piece that lifts off but it would have created too many alignment and stability issues. I did the best compromise I could by making the hatches moveable.

Doing cutaways on card models wouldn't be any more difficult than in any other media, just not on this particular one. Anyhow, isn't actually BUILDING the model most of the fun? I don't look at them much after they are finished .

Next up is the reason I haven't updated lately - the 12 (plus 2 spares) bottom dual wheels. These have taken me 8 days to make, the equivalent of tying ratlines on a ship. I'm really glad to see the end of them at last . Here are four of the wheels in the various jigs I made to assist assembly :

I used two spacers and a piece of brass tubing to fit the inner wheel to the axle :

A finished wheel fitted to the suspension arm :

    Another update - at last!!

Thank you all for your good wishes.  The treatment went well and I am currently 'all clear' with my next check in April next year.  Following the good news we took off for a holiday in South Australia - looking at the sights; checking out the maritime scene and photographing birds.  We had a really great time and arrived home very relaxed and ready for whatever the world decides to throw at us next!

My time in the museum since we got back has been limited, and even when I've been in I've been diverted by other things, so the 'Meteor' has only progressed by the addition of a couple more frames down aft.  This is by far the slowest build I've ever been involved with and the slow progress is beginning to frustrate me.  I'll bring the hull home next week to do a bit of serious fairing.  Too much fine sawdust being sucked into to ventilation system isn't good for the museum, but I'm reluctant to bring the model home as carrying a delicate model back and forth on Sydney's peak hour trains isn't good for the mental equilibrium!  This time of year is good as the trains are far less crowded over the holiday period.

Here are a few photos of the tiny amount of extra work done.

one thing about "working" latches and other parts...
you are asking for a trouble. although they look impressive to untrained eye, they are more often flimsy and weak. if you soak it in CA glue, might do the trick, but then there is discolouration of paper...
BUT, its your model. if you want to paint it pink and draw unicorns on it, who am I to tell you otherwise.
    BTW, very, very good job.

    regarding cutaways:
Halinski has some pictures from prototype builds on their page. look for T34 and Sherman firefly... detail is unbelievable. I have both at home and sometimes just look through the books, to admire the quality...

    Hello dear friends,
thank you for your support and "likes", I am glad you enjoy my work.
Today I am bringing another tutorial how I use self-adhesive foils and achieve wooden-looking parts in interior of the ship.

Here is the first step -  the wall is after impregnation covered by self adhesive foil with wooden-looking grain.

    * cutting out places for gluing wooden beams -  the foil tapes have to be removed using a sharp knife

*And here are added wooden beams:

    * the surface is over-sprayed with Tamiya TS-80 flat clear to achieve better adhesion of another layer of foils

    * cutting foil strips using only Tamiya fine cutter and a ruler:

*sticking and cutting strips on the surface:

    * here is the result before over-spraying - again clear flat TS-80/Tamiya

    * and here after drying:

*and another layer of foil strips:

    *again over-sprayed (TS-80) and heated:

    The final result:

Kind regards and have a great time,
    Doris
