I'm afraid my modelling (of any sort) days are over  . Both my health and eyesight have failed me. AAAARRRRRGGHH

I built the same model, though an earlier version of the Revell kit, when I was still in school 53 years ago. It was one of my favourite Plastic models. I painted it in a similar colour to this one, although more on the metallic turquoise side.

Thanks for bringing back the memories  . A pity it got lost years ago.

    Hi all,

This is definitely my last model, and it will have to remain unfinished due to my health issues. However I did manage to get a long way into it before the eyes and body gave up on me, so I do have a lot of pics I can share with you. I'll have to keep the text down to a minimum I'm afraid.

Ir's a Card (surprise surprise  ) diorama of the Hamburg docks circa late 1930's complete with a freighter in dock. The kit was published by HMV, and is quite complex. Printing and instructions were very good.

Here's a pic of the cover art :

Work starts with the dock, sea and warehouse :

    Evening all

Welcome to my next car build. This wasn't supposed to be my next car build but as my next car build hasn't even left the warehouse it will become my next car build after this next car build!😄😁

Probably not a bad thing in fairness as it gives me another stab at making mistakes I mean increasing my experience. Heres the box art.

However I'm going to paint it gloss red with two white stripes in the middle similar to this

(Image downloaded from classic cars.com) as red and white are going to be the primary colours of my next car build and I wanted to get some experience with using those colours.

Having looked at a few videos and picked up a few tips from the good folk on this website I'm going to start on the car body at the same time as building the engine.
First thing to do was to work out how much I could glue one go before painting and without it hindering the insertion of the car interior later on. Good job I did this as the parts don't fit perfectly and I would have had to do what I had to do on the Aston which is to add filler after painting and then repaint...

Gaps have now been filled and I have started cleaning up the body of mold lines and flash. Next step is to sand down the filler and start painting!

Stay tuned and thanks for looking in

    Nick

Denis, most modern fixed wing a/c have retractable refueling equipment. USAF favors doors to receptacles in the body, most other airforces (including naval forces) favor a probe on the receiver and a drogue (basket) on the tanker. Same for helos. I think the USAF version stems from the 50s and Gen Curtis LeMay. Control and use of tanker assets.

Blades better droop, means they are flexible. It's like wings flexing; they better or the wings break off.

even on plastic kits I've built in the past,  blade sag has always been a problem.   the long blade seems to amplify the weight.   I'd go back to my model weeks later,  to find that they have sagged to the shelf!  I have my fingers crossed that you have a good remedy for this Danny    this is one fabulous model you've built........I'm in awe of how it's coming out........you've mastered card with ease     here's a good question for you all :

      we all know that the pilot tube is an integral part of the craft.........much like the MAP sensor in an automobile.   is the refueling tube an integral part of the craft.......where is it stored when not in use, ........or...........is it fitted when the mission at hand is determined...........the duration of the mission,  and will it need to be refueled in mid flight?  {just play'in the devil's advocate here   }

What a lovely little build! Have always loved train rolling stock but have not touched any type of trains since my teens, how ever I did put togather an N gauge layout for my father-in-law about 10 years ago. Really enjoyed doing it. Never thought about paper models, so this was an interesting build for or me.

I have just started building of the model NEW MEXICO (BB-40) in scale 1:200.
Scratch model. The project is executed by software: Rhinoceros and Corel.
The model contains laser cut elements that I designed myself.

The Hull frames were made of 1.0 mm thick cardboard.

Below are a couple of pics of the completed Standing Rigging :

The start of the Bowsprit rigging :

About now I realized my camera battery was running low, so not many progress pics were able to be taken. Here all the Yards have been attached and the Running Rigging is complete :

I'll take some more closeup pics of the rigging next trip. Bear in mind that I've done a VERY simplified rigging - virtually only the Lifts and Braces for each Yard. I might add the Sheets and Tacks for the lower yards - that area looks a bit bare.

Last pic is of the port anchor :

Apart from painting and fitting the ship's boats the build is now complete. The remaining work will take me a couple of hours, but that will be next week. Then I can deliver the ship to the owner .
