    Good start. Now you are entering the "Fragile" stage of this kit. Everything wants to snap off.

    I started the center grates. They are a matched pair.

    I glued the forward grate to the deck and made the shot racks with their "poppy seed" cannon balls

    I trimmed and finished the forward grate then stained it. I will now make the shot racks with is tiny tiny cannon balls that came with the kit.

    I finished the forward grate. Now I have to trim it

    I touched up with varnish the hull where I had to sand the old varnish away so I could glue on the side badges.

    Thanks to Steve and Sam, I got up the courage to install my homemade side badges. The Argus did have side badges, but the ones that came with the kit are not acceptable.

    Here's the best I can do with making new side badges. I'll look at them for a while and make a decision as to put them on the ship or not. There is no way I would put the junky badges the kit provided.

    I'm still working on the side badges. I don't know if I love them or hate them. I'll keep on swinging

    I tend to leave everything alone. Brass is brass, wood is wood, copper is copper. I will have brass belaying pins. Realism will be in the eye of the beholder.

    Still working on the side badges and I found some hawse hole liners from another kit. There will be a large percentage of stuff left over from other kits or scratch built by me on this build. It is a poor quality kit.

    I'm working on building my own quarter badges. I have no idea how they will turn out. I'll just wing each step of the way.

    I built and installed the aft gunport lids as per instructions except I made them full rather than 2 half lids. All the lids will eventually be full and not half lids

    I found my original drawing of the Argus and it shows side badges. So now I shall try to create some nice ones and ditch the junk from this kit.

    Thanks, Zach. I do all my models that way because I love the natural wood.

    I was told The Argus did not have a figurehead on the bowsprit, as far as the side badges, The Argus probably had them since I have a picture of a sister Brig that show side badges. If I can't make nice ones, I will leave them off. Rich

    Yea, Jesse, I'll try to design my own version but this is a lot of effort for just a small payback. This kit should have charged a little more and provided better quality stuff. All my other kits came with excellent extras that didn't require making my own stuff. The cleats are another example.

    I'm trying to salvage the junky quarter badges that come with kit. I don't think I'll succeed. I'll try a little bit longer then go to plan "B". Exactly what plan "B" will be I don't know

    I've installed the doors on the companionway at the same angle shown in the plans. I pinned them as well as glued them.
