  1. You're still a little bit ahead I think 😅 I'm happy with the ratlines yes, the futtock staves are a bit messy...
  2. Shrouds and ratlines done. It took me a few attempts to get the ratlines right and to get into the groove of hitches and cloves 😉 But once I knew how it went rather quickly. I feared the ratlines tbh, but bring on that big 3 master 😃 It's not perfect imo, so I really need another ship to improve... I started rigging the bowsprit. Once that's done I'll allow myself a little woodworking interlude, still haven't done the yards and all, it'll be good to do something else than rigging.
  3. Shrouds, futtocks, etc.. Advancing slowly, I'm a bit new at rigging to be honest, so I'm taking my time. And it's actually a lot of work imo. I'll need to tidy up all these little knots, will do after the ratlines 😃
  4. Thanks Allan for the compliment. About the guns, they're 4 pounders. Since Flirt never did anything really (apart from being gorgeously pretty), she was probably armed with whatever was lying around. I haven't found pics from the time. Concerning their accuracy, I still haven't managed to fire them... Should ask Chris about that 😊
  5. A painted hull needs to be done accurately as well imho, you do want to see the planks still. (Reply to #30)
  6. Nicely rescued 😊 if I may, do try to do the tapering the same for all planks for the second planking, looks better imho.
  7. Kuddos for trying a good first planking 😊 It seems to me for as far as I can see that you could have faired the MDF bulkheads and support pieces more. For example the angle at the first bulkhead should be more round. All lines must 'flow' organically if that makes sense.
  8. Shrouds being installed. Quite stressful with the shipyard inspector on site 😬
  9. No, that's not normal. Every plank should be flat on every bulkhead and thinning should be the same, more or less for every plank. This will need a lot of wood filler and imho that's not what is supposed to happen. Check out Chuck's planking videos, they'll help you a lot I'm sure 😊.
  10. The masts then. More work then I had thought actually, maybe also because the step-by-step instruction manual has ended here and it's measuring and looking at the big, highly detailed plans. The wood for the lower masts was a lot darker than the rest (see bowsprit), not a biggy, I quite like it tbh. There's no need to glue the masts in place imo, the fit is quite snug and the rigging will hold it. Same for top masts and bowsprit. On we go! 😊 Oh and spring has begun 😃
  11. I did that yes, what you said last. It didn't do any damage to the deadeyes, but I now see I have to retouch with paint anyway, so that's probably the way to go.
  12. Damage is inevitable yes and I blackened them again indeed with the deadeyes attached.
  13. And now the hull and all the guns are done 😃 sure some retouching when the macro camera spots something. Quite happy how it turned out tbh, now started with the masts and the rigging stress is lurking, I can feel it 😬
  14. Fun with ropes and guns 😉 Breeching ropes only, I don't have all the hardware (eyes, blocks) to fully rig them and not sure I want to.
  15. Looks like the channels are a little too low, assuming Speedy is the same as Flirt. That's maybe why the chain plates end up below the wales. Here's my Flirt with channels flush with gun ports.
