Augie just in awe of the rigging. The whole overall package really, but what drew me to this is the majestic overall look of these vessels with all the lines and what not.
Just love looking at it.

Be back as soon as I figure out who snuck into the shop and belayed the topsail buntlines to where the braces are supposed to go. This may take a week

I've seen contemporary 18th century British models and the inner bulwarks are treated in many different ways. I've seen:
all red bulwarks and waterway (angled part only),
red bulwarks with unpainted waterway,
red quick work and black spirketting, unpainted waterway,
red bulkwarks with black waterway,
amongst other variations! Take your pick. In all cases the flat of the waterway is not painted.

I do not think there will be any hard and fast rules for mast rakes on Baltimore clippers. I think each captain probably had a favorite rake for each mast that had worked well for him and that is what he used. You can use what you found on the Pride of Baltimore if that looks good to you.

The easiest way is to open the hole in the deck slightly and then shim the mast with wedges to get the desired rake.

So... today's tally.... one "saint", one "his goodness", and one "the spiders are putting on oxygen masks". This sounds like a "B" movie from the 70's... now you know why I bring popcorn.

It's great to have friends like Frank, someone to count on in case one of the (short) fuses around here gets 'accidentally' lit.
But fear not, my friend. Nothing deters me from the task at hand. The topsail yard rigging has been completed and the rigging spiders are strapping on their oxygen prior to ascension to the topgallants. A photo update shall appear as soon as the t'gallants are lashed aloft!
