You know a good friend have to say when you are on the wrong track, and is not to hurt you but well to be progressed! I am registered on a naval forum in France or the administrator(director) who is one truths naval encyclopedia gives you the slightest small defect and urges you to improve you permanently and of the kept silent blow consider diférement at the models! Am not afraid of questioning you because you are on the right track

hello lamarvalley I think you did a beautiful job on your sf but I just see two major flaws: the first guy is too low amounts of your mastheads are too coarse: the sailors would have more room to slip in your balcony: have you planned an anti slip coating for marine falls in water? make and break for ateindre best motivation is that you should keep in mind cordially bruno

my opinion is that all kits are disapointing in their quality, soclaine like al or mantua, because it's only for premium's modeliste but when you decide to look a little bit more the history of the ship and "THE HISTORY" you realised that there are lot of wrong things! when i built the san francisco2 i don't do the nescessary reaserch and now i know that the gunship are fake, too late! my next ship will be the hma "royal caroline" and i know all rebuild to do! but it really exiting to rebuild and be real! My choice of " the recouvrance " is a tribute for every glorious past of French navy and particularly of the Brittany without wonderful boats as the " soleil royal " or "le superbe" would have never been born! The Brittany is a region where the sea is predominante, its history is connected to it!

of course! i resume, i bought a kit from soclaine named "la recouvrance" but in fact it's the "iris" ,a ship build in 1817! so i decided to do the real "recouvrance" who where build in 1990 at brest from the GUIP constructor! it take the name of a brest quartier where the ship gone to the sea! i realised all the desk details because there wasn't in the kit,but i got an avantage ,the real ship is about 100 km from me! so i can take a lot of photo to do my ship!! cordialy bruno

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
