Byrnes Table Saw on Ebay UK
Nunnehi (Don) replied to No Idea's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Just noticed that the link to Byrnes has been removed - perhaps it’s getting an update? -
You’re most welcome, Patrick. If you want, I will send you the fuselage that I didn’t use, just send me a pm with your contact and I’ll get it on the way. It’s partially painted but can be cleaned up. Don

Patrick, your planking looks great and I’m following your build with interest. One suggestion, I think that there was a passageway between the fore and aft main cabins that is closed if you follow the instructions, which is what I did. I think one of the other builds on here shows it opened up that may be more accurate. Don

Patrick, Thanks for the kind words, it’s really appreciated! It’s a 1:48 OH13 Sioux made by Italeri and is available from Squadron models online, Squadron.com, and I’m sure other vendors. There are a couple of problems, it’s not historically accurate for the Calypso, and it’s slightly out of scale. I modified it to use the floats that came with the Billings kit. If you can live with the problems, it’s a nice addition. thanks again, Don

Hank, FYI, there’s a new Arleigh Burke out from ILoveKits (Trumpeter?) in a 1:200 scale that’s available from Squadron - the reviews I’ve seen are good and I’ve got one on order. The scale is large enough to allow much easier detailing than the others scaled at 1:350, although the case would have to be larger. I have a Byrne’s saw and couldn’t live without it, I really hope that they can continue. Back in the summer, they closed their site to orders for everything except their new disk sander, so I ordered one and it was delivered the same week Jim passed. It’s a real jewel! Jim’s tools are works of art - he will be missed. Don

Glen, Your work is just beautiful, well done! Your trip to Africa also looks like a lot of fun. Visiting Africa was never on my bucket list, but my Son and his Wife spent several years in Zambia with the Peace Corps, so naturally, we had to go. We spent almost a month in and around Livingstone and also went on a Safari- the wildlife was incredible! Highly recommended. Here’ one of my favorite pics………… Don

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
