Fuji, she looks great! Nice build of a truly interesting and historic vessel from a kit that’s a bit dated by today’s standards! Well done! Don

Brian, I would certainly support the Cairo Museum as it’s an easy 300 mile Interstate trip for me through sparsely populated parts of Alabama and Mississippi over to Vicksburg. The city itself is a classic, small, quaint southern town with some good restaurants, but the Vicksburg Battlefield and the attached Cairo Museum is the real attraction - we visit on a regular basis. For most, though, it’s kind of out of the way and off the beaten track. Another venue would be the Mariners Museum near Norfolk Virginia with its USS Monitor preservation center. Ryland Craze, who posts here on a regular basis, would be able to give you more information. Don

Brian, that’s simply stunning - beautifully done! Do you have any plans to show it at any of the model shows? Would very much like to see her in person. Don

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
