That`s a very busy looking deck you have there - looking good. By the way I went to the Billing Boats USA site to order the Wasa fitting kit.They must have sent the order on to Ages of Sail - they sent me an e-mail saying they couldn`t get it . Oh well. Billing should remove it from there site if you can`t get it .

Hi Mates,
Continuing onward with the carriage ropes and tackles installation.
After trying to install one completely assembled carriage with ropes attached, I found it to be too cumbersome and a pain in the @#&. That wasn’t going to work very well. Space was so limited and I needed to also, just below the upper blocks attach the hooks for the carriage stops. Too messy hmmm….
So, plan B; I completed all the rope/block assemblies for the14 carriages. Then chose to attach those to the weather deck first. Made a small hook so basic but so perfect ha ah…
Sliding in the cannons, then attaching the pins to each side of the carriages will be a breeze (I think). I can then adjust the ropes and tackles for a tight fit.
Have not decided how to display the left over rope lengths. The Vasa museum sort of hangs the excess on hooks near the rear of each carriage side. I’m short on length of the carriages, as they had to be shortened (Corel kit weather deck too narrow).

Thanks Alistair. I'll see what I can do about the pictures. Now I'm struggling with the cap rails. The little bent pieces are made of tanganyika. It still was not easy to do, but it was possible with a bit of patience. Now I'm thinking about the top of the transome and what to do with it. Is there also supposed to be a cap rail?

I decided to add on the bow also the seats of ease, I found inspiration also here:
As my opinion the bow grating looks better now. I know that the bars should be embedded into slots, but at this stage of progress with many delicate details around it was very difficult to remake the grating and make it accurate.

I feel so honored and pleased reading your posts. Thank you very much for you kind words and support, that is a great motivation for me and also a commitment to continue with my work as best as I can.
Well, for me it is easier to make pins from two parts, cause I have no lathe or other suitable tools , that can facilitate the work. First I was a bit afraid of their strength, but it is O.K. After gluing into the plank the pins are very strong.
I am glad, you like it. In future I am going to make other videos "how to do" . I believe, this is a better than description using words.
Well dear friends, during this weekend I have decided to remake a grating on the bow, cause the first version did not match reality at all. I found a lot of perfect inspiration here at MSW, so I try to improved my model. Here are the pics from process:

So I have started with disassembling, I use debonder and must be very careful and patient....

A small update. Finally working on the carriage pulleys and ropes. What I thought would be monotonous has in fact been fun. I worked out, I think, a way of attaching the double pulleys to the weather deck in the same fashion as seen on the Vasa museum carriage reconstruction. I will work with bits of toothpick ends to fashion the braces.
Kudos to Syrene for Chucks excellent ropes and pulleys (:-)

The book you mentioned is also available in German (that's easier for me ) and it got very good write-up's, so I think I'll try it. The only problem ist, there are still waiting lots and lots of books to be read, so, maybe it takes a bit time...

during summer of course there are a lot of other things to do, but some progress has been done.
The mainmast is ready so far. The construction is similar to the foremast. Therefore now only pictures from
the ready assembled mast.

This is a holder mounted above the height of the mast bettings is used to hang surplus ropes
Now the mars
next the saling
Halfway up between spreader and masthead is a kind of small spreader, the function of me but so far is not yet clear
On the masthead then something laterally offset the flagpole
Had tried to make an overall view of the provisionally inserted masts, the photographic result is however quite bad ...
if all masts are finished then I'll have to go to the photo studio ...
Now I will start with the third and last mast.

Continuing with the braces.
We think of rigging as complicated, rather tedious and once done, to be left alone. However, I'm currently reading "The Life of Captain James Cook" by J.C. Beaglehole and I'm intimidated by the fact that in severe gales or storms, Cook strikes the topmasts and yards, only to send them aloft again when the weather moderates. Can any of us do that with our models? Perhaps Grant is the most experienced among us, with his vast experience with broken masts. (Sorry Grant, I couldn't resist). Of course the point is that when one looks at real life experience, rigging takes on a dynamic role with every line serving the ship.
This will complete the braces for the mainmast yards and crossjack yard. Then we can deal with the prodigious excess of line each generates.
Main Topgallant Yard Brace. Originates from the mizzen topmast stay collar, passing through the yard block and back to a block on the collar, then to a shroud cleat.
Main Topsail Yard Brace. Originates from the Mizzen stay collar and returns to a block on the mizzen just below the bibbs.
Main Course Yard Brace.
Lizzard off the after mizzen shroud.
The origin at an eyebolt, passing through a block at the rail and belaying to a large deck cleat.
