Hi Igor, maybe we all we assume that grain of dust port holes in your model, ;) Very nice job, congratulations! Regards, Matija.

Hi Patrick, you should be use finer sandpaper I'm still, like a child, curious and pleasantly surprised with your work. Excellent! Regards, Matija.

Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your lovely comments and compliments, I'm glad that you like my Bluenose. On our side of the world, in our small but beautiful sea, these ships do not exist or are rare and modelers do not work or work kits. It was difficult to get information about Bluenose and in general on schooners and I'm a lot of trouble to find all the details and make a model with whom am satisfied. Information about Dory I have and it will be my pleasure if I can help to your beautiful schooner Annie M. Parker is even more beautiful . I am sending them to the PM. Best regards, Matija.

Hi Patrick, Mike, Nils, Mark, thank you for your nice comments. I'd like to build go faster but I have's and other obligations ... You are right for image IMG_0440, and I like it . Corners of the cockpit frame maybe I made too sharp but reviewing documents I found these. Mike, wood deck is larch, the rest is pear. Larch is selected with extremely fine tree rings order to be seen on the small planks. Regards, Matija.

Patrick, you are unsurpassed as always! ... maybe missing vase of flowers on the table or perhaps ashtray Matija

Thank you Michael, for me is an honor to be complimented of outstanding master. It was nice to build she .. when I think of making and I want to make a new Bluenose (perhaps Bluenose II)). Thank you Julian and Jan-Willem, I follow your Bluenose with pleasure. Thank you Yambo, ...in our country is full of colors and options. I used the most simple primer for metal, matt (red oxide). After coating, lightly I polished with fine metal shavings (a sponge ??). The same kind of color is available in acrylic or oil ... (for example) Rewell Color for modellers can be bought throughout Europe and the world ... I checked on Ebay.de, sent Revell colors in your country but ... is expensive. I think you'll find color in store for builders, perhaps art shop or maybe to find a painting studio .. that's no "special" color. My Pen Duick is painted with car color ... Let me know if you need more help from me. Best regards, Matija.

Pen Duick 1898 by Mfelinger - 1:20
Mfelinger replied to Mfelinger's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1851 - 1900
HI Lawrence, ... and thank you for the praise, visit my log and interest. My model is not designed for use in water, there will be a static model. The hull is made of maple. I know from experience that it is possible to shoot and open cracks (sometimes). On the hull of Pen Duick not visible any compounds which is why I put rowing and epoxy. So I got very smooth and perfect hull, as is the actual ship. Regards, Matija. -
Thank you Pierre, Patrick, Michael, Bob for the nice words Patrick, I will paint the hull and everything else that is free of scratches. It is intended for a gift and I will not to play with the final appearance. You're a little intrigued me so maybe next project will be in the style of what you suggested. Regards, Matija.

Igor, You always surprise me, when I think that this limit, you skip it ... your work is amazing. Regards, Matija.

Hi Nils, Your work is always good, clean and meticulous The pleasure is to watch the construction of your ship. Regards, Matija.

Hi Patrick, I totally agree with Bob ... all words are meaningless versus your work bravo!!! Regards, Matija

Thank you Patrick, I'm glad you like it. Is proceeding slowly, not how I wanted to, I do models only at night ... if I'm not on the job;). Thank you Mike, your words pushed me to do yet another wonderful model of Croatian Adriatic when I finish Pasara ... ... the end of the construction is not even close. Maybe that she cut in half Once completed. It would be interesting installations. Mr. Jukic and Mr.Udovc are more experienced Croatian modelers than me and it's nice to receive your praise, thank you ... Thanks to all for likes! Regards, Matija.

As always Nils, you doing admirable work. I like to monitor the progress of your log. cheers, Matija

Thank you Patrick, it's nice to hear praise from a man who is master of miniatures. Thank you Mike... always look easy if you work for pleasure (& when others are doing .) Pasara do that little "pause" of Pen Duick, it worked, now I can not wait to continue my work. Today, little progress but it has ... I would have more but I have go to work tonight .. Here are some photos: Regards, Matija.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
