Striking build and paintwork - really Pops. OC. -
Good work with figures, my to go with routine is - Black primer (as it works good for shadow line detail) faces and hands with any details picked out (depends on the scale of the figure) then a wash with high lights picked out and a wee bit of slightly more pink for cheeks etc, then blocking in the main colours then fine details like belts and small details, then when fully dry after a day or Two a wash over the main body then fine details picked out - like over belts etc. Its all an illusion of shadows and high lights. Hope this helps. OC.

I have been busy again today - firstly by adding a wee bit more weathering to the White on the walls and tiled roof (looked better) but also I have started the cobbled path that goes from the porch to the log store near the stables, in real life it was about 5 feet wide and about 15 feet long, I used a piece of my MDF type wood measured and cut it to shape, then the fun bit - measuring for the rows of stones, then marked and with my sharp knife I cut the rows, then I used scribing tool and cut slightly wider deeper gaps. Will take pics later after my phone has charged up. OC.

Seen the main guy on tv buying restoring and selling the real versions - Wayne Carini (Chasing Classic Cars) Looking forward to following this build. OC. -
I just want to add - that I think the porch will have more impact and blend in when I start to do more scenery and weather some of the buildings a bit more to blend it all together (I am quietly proud of the porch as it was made competley from scrap material with no plans - just bits of wood - card and paper). OC.

I have also been measuring and cutting out a piece of ground works - in the shape of a small section of cobbled stone path, its only small no more than Four feet wide (In scale size) Im making it from my MDF type wood, the idea is that I will mark the cobbles then scribe them using my knife, then paint and weather them as required. OC.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
