  1. You are so correct Alan, its such a difficult thing to look realistic, I may leave that one out and just attach all the other figures I am working on. OC.
  2. I probably worded it wrongly - meant the pan by the striker near his face, there is also just the slightest hint of smoke coming out of the barrel. OC.
  3. So I had a go at some wool smoke - I added a small blob - ball type bit on the breech and tried a bit coming out of the muzzle, but I wasn't convinced as it just looked like wool, so I removed the muzzle bit but also had to cut away the bayonet (not a problem as some did not have their bayonets fixed) I also cut away at the smoke on the breech till there was only the smallest bit left, this is about as far as I would go - just cant make it life like. OC.
  4. Morning all, think I found out the secret to getting a nice flat finish with my Lucky Ultra Matt varnish, after a thorough shake (my arms are still shaking now lol) I put a small amount in a dish then after loading the brush I removed most of it against the dish wall, then I removed even more on some tissue, then when I ran the brush over the figure it was like just adding a slight wet finish in a really thin layer - yep it seemed to have worked. And long last a few pics - sorry for the poor quaility quick shots in the kitchen. OC.
  5. Morning all, while re flat coating my figures - (I have done about 50 so far) some are taking a couple of coats as my dreaded Blue is being stubborn, I have also been doing lots of reading from all the different Waterloo links, and I have decided to leave my Polish (French Guard) Lancer out of my dio, as they did not actually come near to the farm but took part further towards Hougoumont and further in the centre attacking Ponsonbys Greys charge, but in exchange I have decided to add a couple of British 95th rifles that I will place on the road at the extreme end near the kitchen garden - they will be placed pressed against the wall because of the Lifeguards blasting past. OC.
  6. Amazing work Greg - you should seriously see if any nautical museums would like thease for display - they are up to standard with out doubt. OC.
  7. Look at that engine - (now where did you put the model one you was working on) OC.
  8. Hey, you turned a pig of an Airfix kit into a very nice model, you had an uphill struggle from day one - but you did it. OC.
  9. Hope you might find these useful Craig - I took them myself back in 2017. OC.
  10. Excellent work Andy, I know my late farther would have been very impressed being an ex Erk him self. OC.
  11. Just a very very belated Thank You for starting this section that we all call Home now. OC.
  12. I have been searching the net for Rifle and Musket firing still and have managed to find these - Baker Rifle as used by the 1st and 2nd Light KGL and the Luneberge Regiment and the common Musket as used by the 5th KGL (Red Jackets) and also the French. I have done a couple of screenshots to show the different stages of smoke from the Breech and then the Muzzle, it gives a few smoke options. Still not mine - got them off the net. OC.
  13. Some Excellent work going on here brother, love the attention to detail and alround work you put into it. OC.
  14. Like others have said - thats an excellent recovery. OC.
  15. Morning all, I have been toying with the idea of trying to do some mock smoke coming from the rifles - muskets, I have been looking on the net how to do it - cotton fibres like in cotton wool wrapped around a wire and glued then the thin wire wrapped around the end of the barrel - or in my case glued to the inside edge of the bayonets with the cotton pulled over to hide the wire. Some who are really good even simulate the orange - yellow colour of the flash and some blackening but I have seen them using an airbrush to do it (think it would be difficult with brushes) So I am not sure as if its not done right it might look tacky and spoil the Whole thing. OC.
  16. So I have now flat coated 30 of my figures and put them to One side, and fixed down another Fifteen on top of my paint bottles ready for the same treatment. OC.
