  1. good evening everyone, thank you for comments and likes day 69 illusions continue and reality check time 1/70 thats what im building, but only today did it sink in how big these vessels were, i now appreciate why model builders put figures into builds please meet Wilber, you will be seeing a lot more of him (Wilber is from the HMS Victory crew and at 1/72 scale) on the upper deck by the after cargo hold Engine room tween deck level today we have a brick loadout, these and the pipes may never get used, but has given me a welcome break from paper cutting everyday for the last 9 weeks using bricks from the Ardes Ars kits and the wooden Balcony from a 1/12 dolls house i have attempted to make a loadout of bricks these are not finished and need banding etc the top of the brick piles will not bee seen as a wooden loadout will sit of the hatch cover pontoons this is all very much work in progress comments are more than welcome
  2. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes day 68 the illusion continues the pipe loadout continues and I now have something that resembles a image i had in me mind so now the frames for the port side can go in straps are elastic bands styrene rods with the glass from the Amerigo Vespucci port holes as post caps
  3. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes day 67 its just an illusion having completed the after and midships section web frames (port) i need to start closing in the stbd side, i am not sure how to do this, in the cutaway format however before that CARGO last night i decided she would basically be a builders merchant carrier, and carry items of that nature, so to keep the weight down aft i went for pipes leaving the shaft tunnel free, as i want that to be seen this is the best i can think of for now
  4. i love guys who work in 1/350 much more variety out there in that scale, but to small for me, but my preferred scales are to large for diorama's as a rule and yes it is expensive, that link i sent
  5. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes i was trying to reduce my updates to every other day, but i miss the being part of the community (if that makes any sense), yep i miss someone to talk to other than the wife or the dog, one of them is not that interested in what im building, the other one is asleep under the desk day 66 midships upper deck box girders with port and stbd transverse beams done 3 hours cutting out, cutting slots and folding the upper deck consists of about 180 pieces and took me two days build time (about 8 to 10 hours)
  6. you are doing such a fantastic job on her
  7. good evening everyone Day 65 upper deck box girders and port side transverse beams quite pleased with progress made today, even though the box girders had to be remade, as i mixed port and stbd in error, take 1 box girders Take 2 with some of todays made up transverse beams , noting glued and not very well presented for you
  8. very nice indeed my friend, its going to look great when in place
  9. good evening everyone thank you for comments likes day 64 midships upper deck beams not much to show for an update, although, i have managed to do something each day since the last update the upper forepeak has been built up, and awaits fixing into position, this will remain black, along with the bilges and stern post lining up quite well no i dont like the black either still continuing to port the port frames in, they seam to be sitting quite well now started the upper deck of the midships section,
  10. like a real vessel it is vulnerable in early stages of build, but as each bit goes on it is becoming more an more rigid as for the larger builds, yes i seam to enjoy them, i recently purchased the 1/200 trumpeter Titanic with KA MK1 PE kit (at a good price), and dont think i will build her as 1/96 and seams to be my top end of scale, given a choice i would swop it tomorrow for 1/96 linkspan ferry Norstar
  11. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes day 60 front end on and continuation of port side frames
  12. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes day 58 port side frames going in Midships section bit of a disaster yesterday so quite a few hours wasted, making up the frames for the tween deck and spent ages lining them up, went to fit then on the build when i realised it did not look right at all, i had successfully put them all on the upper deck position, not the tween deck, what a numpty, some were damaged beyond repair, but i had a few spare from a previous build also made up a set of tween deck pontoon hatch covers, to ensure my corners were square (spot on)
  13. a mass of dead people, might be easier said than done, unless you were to use a modelling clay with bits of the soldiers added
  14. @Jim Lad yes it does look delicate, well today i started to resolve that issue good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes day 56 front end on, and back off again, stbd side frames going in instead But first of all i made an attempt to join the front end on, after 24 hours of daring not to sneeze i decided, its far to early as there is nothing solid yet to secure it to, other than the keel plates, however with a bit of string along the centre line, it is spot on right lets get the port side sorted, 157 frames to varnished on both sides, the reverse to be painted grey, cut and folded frames going in, my next project for a few days front end is getting in the way, rather than damage anything it has been taken back off
  15. it is actually very firm now, where the transverse beams are attached to the box girders onto the bulkheads, what is surprising is how flimsy the stern frames are that have been put in, no doubt when the other side are in it will make them look better
