That looks like a cool little model (I can hear Gordon Lightfoot in the background). I can't wait to see how this turns out.

This is a great kit that builds up to a nice model. I built one when they first came out a few years ago. I can't wait to see what you do with yours.

I think it is so cool that there are three wonderful Revell Cutty Sark builds going on simultaneously with a lot of constructive advice being shared by and amongst the builders. All three are very inspirational and have me very excited to get started on mine once I clear the decks of some of my other projects.

Veszett, Yes, I will be doing a build log for the Passat. I'm in the process of finishing up Revell's Colombia Express, and Academy's USS Reuben James first. I wish I had done a build log of those two because I feel that a build log helps keep the building process moving forward. Cheers, Wayne

Your modifications to the catwalk support posts is very well done. The Passat should be getting started in February.

Chris, Really good to see you back at it. Nice job as usual. I have a couple of questions: 1. Are you building a "maritime museum" somewhere in your home? If so, please share some pics, I'd love to see how you're displaying these beauties. 2. I've always had a love for ocean liners but have had a hard sourcing these kits. Other than Ebay, there doesn't seem to be any retailers. What's your source? Looking forward to more installments of this build. Thanks, Wayne

Bruma, Your build log is a joy to follow and the fact that you take the time to answer everyone's question with thought and respect is commendable. I truly appreciate the amount of detail that you have put into this ship and it is a great example of how a plastic model can be turned into a true museum piece. I will be referring to this log quite often when I have a chance to get back to the work bench. Best Regards, Wayne

Chris, are you lighting this model? I ask because it looks like you added LED light stripes on either side at the main deck level.

So, after tackling the Normandie, which came out phenomenal I might add, you decided to go after all the 1/600 ships? Sounds like a great idea!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
