    Hi Mates,

Another of my small updates; finished the upper deck, installed the two upper gun deck carriages, lanterns, and door tackles. Decided to minimally detail those two carriages, as they will be so out-of-sight.

Note those lantern wires need to be lengthened, and then hidden and spooled behind the side frames. Purchased a spool of the same specific wires from the LED sourced company.
Those 18 wires will also need to run under the (to be made) case so that I can have the on-off switch easily available after ship is incased. Ship will only be visible from the front, and the case will be made so as to hang on a wall.

Also need to add knees and support stanchions to the lower decks – later..

Now onto the upper deck details,,,,

Thanks for the likes and visits.

    Hello everyone!

Time for the next update. Rope Coils underneath the forecastle deck were finished, Planking of the forecastle deck can be started now.

Railing of the rear castle finished. Made from square stock (swiss pear) and walnut. A tedious work making them all fit properly.

Here's an overall view. It looks more and more like a ship

That's all folks (my son was watching woody w. on TV)...,

It's slowly coming together.   Still have to repair some damage and work to convert this design to make it look "French".

Finally, the cannon are finished except for the blackening. That was five months, off and on, making these cannon.
When they are all laid out in one spot, that is a lot of firepower!

Tomorrow, I will try the blackening with Jax's Pewter Black. It is a few years old, but I don't see an expiration date. So I will try and see.

I will also try cleaning them with Frei Otto's Pickle, which I got as part of a package of jewelry supplies. It is supposed to clean up and brighten for soldering, so perhaps this will help with the adherence of the blackening. Jax also recommends cleaning with dish soap right before blackening.
Does anyone have experience or advice using this pickle, or any other advice on getting good outcomes with the blackening?

Hi everyone.  Haven`t posted for a while due to being tied up with house stuff.  I have, however, got the topgallant yards & sails rigged along with attaching the topmast yards. Not perfect, but I think it passes the galloping horse test.  Thanks for looking in!

Well, as people asked, here are some pictures from my marriage. In the first one me and my wife with my dad, and the second one at the celebration: cake time!

And some pictures on my progression. I searched for better sail pictures before sewing mine and found the gains on sewing them in stripes weren't that big. Don't know If I could do better, but think they are fine. I have some papers on junk sails rigging and will try to use them when the time comes - hope next weekend.

Have to say it's a great kit. Even though I won't use some fittings and all, still gave me much fun. It's a great kit to bash, too, as the junks have so many variants in build and shape through time. And thanks! 😊
