Hello Glenn Just an idea, there's no need to fit the glazing inside the gallery's now. You can just leave the windows and fit the glazing in each individual window and fit the windows later . There's no rush to fit them, and it can save any damage to the gallery's during your build that could occur. Keep up the good work. DAVID

Hello everyone Well after two days off I have tonight completed the lifts, leechlines and buntlines on the main mast, but need to return to it during the next stage of the rigging. So now it's onto the mizzen and firstly the cross jack yard. Once I have rigged the mizzen lifts I am directed back to the bowsprit for work there, but most of that work was done earlier, which I rigged out of sequence. So work will then start on the next stage of the foremast , main and mizzen. The driver boom and the driver gaff are to be fitted when all the other rigging is complete. I reckon the lifts and buntlines on the mizzen will be finished by Tuesday all being well. Once again I would like to thank you all for comments and for viewing. Here's a few more photos of the lifts and buntlines of the main mast, sorry they are once a again much of a muchness, everything is just repetitive. Thanks a lot. DAVID

Greetings Bill There are a few more holes to be drilled through the masts. Have a look in the masts and rigging manual and read through from the masts and stays onward and you will see when and were they are used. They drill very easily so leave them and drill them when your masts are made. As for the sheaves they are simple so I still have two to make which I forgot. I will show you them later when I make them , as there is no rush . Regards DAVID

Greetings all Well here we go again. This time it's the lifts buntlines and leech lines on the main mast yards. I have completed the main lifts, and the main topmast yard apart from the buntlines which will be rigged tomorrow alongside the top gallant, then onto the cross jack yard. The build is definitely slowing down as more rigging is added and restricting access. At times this becomes frustrating and I tend to walk away for a while, and only spend about 2 hours each evening on the build. Ok here's some photos, and thanks to you all once more for viewing and comments. Here we go. DAVID

Hello Keith I am not sure how you are fitting these windows, but it may be an idea to fit them on the rear face of the profile to give a nice effect. It may also be easier than fitting them in, as the strip would just fit on the back of the profile . Also styrene strip would be a good choice for the frames instead of the strip you are splitting. You may already be doing this, but I am not sure. Keep enjoying it. DAVID

Hello Keith The ammount of plates on the caldercraft victory is 2600 which would cost £65 so you woul need to pay about £60 with your ship being slightly smaller. The best option may be copper roll, but plenty of time yet., keep enjoying it. DAVID

Hello Keith Looks like things are coming on fine, and I reckon you are correct about altering things as you have done with the roundhouses. Do Billing Supply the copper plates for this kit.???? Keep up the good work Keith And enjoy it. DAVID

Greetings all Well the rigging on the foremast for this stage is all completed, apart from the buntlines on the fore top, which are awaiting two 3mm blocks I forgot to add. I do have to return to the foremast for later rigging. I did also find that I got a bit bemused with one or two of the threads which would not reach their belaying points easily, but was given advice by Gil which is appreciated. So I shall now complete the buntlines and head to the mainmast, but maybe have a look ahead and see if it is possible or wise to add some of the rigging that is done later to this mast now. Thanks a lot to you all for viewing and once again a few photos. Here we go.... DAVID

Hello everybody Well things are going pretty good apart from breaking the thin end of the bowsprit, I cannot remember what they call it, but I got really lucky as it was not completely broken and was on a joint with the spritsail, so it was a simple glue job . I decided to leave the mizzen top gallant yard and have a look at the lifts, buntlines and leechilines. I have secured the lifts on the foremast, but they need belaying correctly. And so onto the buntlines and leechlines. Both the buntlines and leechlines begin life at blocks on the yards and travel under the foremast top through two separate blocks and belay at the forecastle breast beam. Mine are not belayed but simply looped around for now. You may be able to see the run of the thread on the photos. I could not secure the inner buntline as the block on the yard as it's pigging hole clogged up with CA, and needs to be cleared. One thing I would advise and I shall do from now on in , is thread all the buntlines and leechlines before you secure the lifts. There's to much knocking about going on threading the blocks under the tops. Any way that's me for now . Here's some photos . Thanks for your comments and for viewing .DAVID

Hello again Glenn A bit of early advice. I know it is a bit early but take care when you fit the second planking, you get the vertical area of the stern were the stern post links on to ( part 58 ) nice and flat and not concaved or the sternpost will not fit flush up, and you will end up with a gap between the two. It is easily done when concentrating on the planking itself . DAVID

Greetings Glenn Were is your ship????? Is it behind the filler ???????. Or is it snowing in Scarborough ??? Good luck with your second planking. One thing I did find is that CA does not like filler a lot. Keep up the good work and take your time, as we hear a lot it's not a race! You have a couple of years to go. Enjoy it .. DAVID

Greetings all Firstly mort the instructions were to use 0.25 mm black thread for the parral beads. All I have done tonight is link the tye on the mizzen topmast yard to it's belaying point which is a cleat on the poop deck. The truck needs to be connected to the aft most shroud, and on the photos you can see the tackle between a double block and a single block before belaying to the poop deck via the double block. The belaying is not tied off as you can see, and you can also see loads of repair work to do. Here a few photos showing the run of the connection from the yard to the belaying. See if it makes any sense to you. Here we go. Thanks a lot for viewing. DAVID

Greetings all Well here we go again with another yard finished apart from the tye to link up to the falls, which will be done tomorrow. I have one more yard to fit on the mizzen mast which is the top gallant yard, and then I am directed to the lifts buntlines and leech lines. To be honest I had never heard of buntlines and leech lines until I started on the mast platforms. I had expected to fit the driver gaff and boom next , but as I said I am directed elsewhere. I have also linked up the two brace pendents which I was a dubious about when I looked at it on the plans, then I realized it was an angled view which became obvious. So one small spar to do then more fun with those buntlines things, and more damage. Here are a few photos. Thanks to you all for comments and viewing . DAVID

Greeting all Here we are again after fitting the cross jack yard, and damage galore!!!!! Yes there's a lot of repair work to do, and prob best left till a lot later on. The yard is fitted with a sling and one truss pendant which belays via a block and tackle at the fife rail, which you can see on the photo. The deck also looks a bit drab and will need a good tidy up and a coat of varnish later. There is one more single block yet to be fitted on either side of the yard, which is the brace block. The braces themselves cross each other and are linked up from the after most shrouds of the main yard on both the starboard and port side. Anyway that's a bit tricky to explain, but as I said earlier there's lots going on and it's very enjoyable. Here's a few photos , and thanks to you all for all your comments, which are very much appreciated. DAVID

Hello Jerry Well Jerry the work you have done on these masts is truly outstanding, you must be really happy. You were concerned about reaching this phase of your build, but these masts are proving no problem for you with your horizontal lathe!!!!!!! Yes things will start to slow up now, but you are going to enjoy it. You do have one problem, or should as say you may soon have one.. The pointy thing. and I don't want to say to you, " I told over and over again what would happen" Keep up your excellent progress Jerry. Regards DAVID

Hello derek Welcome back, and thanks a lot. I am on doing the mizzen masts now and have two yards made, and will prob have them fitted in a about 3days. The rigging in this area is a bit confusing for me, two of the yards point out backwards to be technical. But this is part of the fun, so they say. I think you must be ready to post, and let us see were you are with the yards and rigging. Good luck . DAVID
