jagdmirage Posted March 27, 2020 #1 Posted March 27, 2020 Hello, I am newly interested in building ships. I have mostly built 1/35 military kits, including resin and photo-etch. Also some mecha kits. Until recently I was not that interested in ship building. Then my brother died and I inherited his collection. He had a lot of ship kits in his collection and I decided to try and build at least one. I read the article on choosing your first kit and some of it I had already thought of. I don't think I have a lot of patience for doing a lot of rigging, so all those are out. I have narrowed my choices of first kit to the Mantua Models Caeser or the Amati Egyptian Ship. Both look fairly simple to me. I would be interested in hearing other peoples opinion on them. I think though, for my first foray into wood kits I am going to build the Mantua Models Norman Catapult to get some experience working with wood. I have not built either kit, although both look like nice kits. I also enjoy 1/35 armor. I just bought a BT-7 by Zvezda. Which ever you decide, feel free to start a build log. The ships would go in the Build Logs for Kits area and the catapult would go into Non-ship Models area in Shore Leave. Think of it as one line going from its A to its B.
