Hullo!

Welcome! HMS Ameer was a Bogue-class carrier; these were smaller than the Casablanca-class (incl. Gambier Bay) and built on merchant hulls, whereas Casablancas were designed from the keel up as warships. Others will have more specific information than what I can provide.

Hiya, thanks for clearing that up for me. I had read a bit on t'interweb but wasn't sure what was what. The search continues for another lockdown project. I am marooned in Inverness at the mo and wish I had brought my Shipyard Santa Maria with me!

Hi Lemmydog and welcome.

Aircraft carriers are completely outside my experience so I can't help with that, but what in particular attracted you to the Ameer and Emperor? Maybe following that line of reasonig could find you a model kit you'd like to build.

Hi Louie, aircraft carriers are a bit of a crossover from my first love of aeroplanes. I read somewhere on web that Ameer etc were the same class of carrier as and there was an available kit of, Gambier Bay (Casablanca Class but Ameer etc were Bogue Class, as ccoyle kindly pointed out). I might be able to get back to my own house after restrictions are lifted and continue with my Corel Victory cross-section.😷

You can click here to see a list of Bogue-class model kits -- not too many to choose from. Of course, there were undoubtedly many changes made to each ship over the course of its service career, along with additional differences for those in RN service. It's a start, though.

Thanks you, that's a great start for me. I'll do a bit of studying of the British ships and see what comes up. Have a nice weekend.

Lemmy,

If you want to make things easy on yourself when replying to bunch of posts in a topic such as this, use the little "+" next to "Quote".  It will let you quote lots of posts in the topic and then when you're ready to reply hit the black box in that showed up in the lower right hand corner.    It will leave space between the quote so you can respond to each one.

Note that this doesn't work "across topics" but only in the one you're in.
