Spent a little time working on the port iron mooring fair leads.    Three down, three to go.

Rob, that's just gorgeous . This particular angle reminds me so much of the one which I credit giving us the breakthrough in finally recognizing Glory's genuine Clipper shape.

This 1911 Seattle dockside view, which actually wasn't fully available even in Michael's first book, finally shows Glory's true razor sharp Clipper Bow. To me, this aha! moment is what allowed Vladimir to give us the incredibly accurate bulkhead kits. And Rob you're showcasing in your incredibly faithful replica, "GLORY of the SEAS" as she truly appeared. This is such exciting stuff!!!

You've probably discussed this previously, but I take she has the copper stripped off her in this photo?  The run of the strakes looks like planking, not copper.

Rob, you put yourself down too much. Of all the many observations that have been directed your way, I haven't seen one derogatory comment about your rapid pace. Your results speak for themselves and they continue to be downright impressive.

Thanks Rich.  I remarked about my speedy pace only derogatorily because it generally means I lack the greater character trait of patience. Sometimes I can’t wait for paint to dry.   I do appreciate every fine comment and accolade I receive…….I truly do.    I’m hard on myself because I know I could do better, but I’m to lazy to correct it.

Im working out the details for making the aft rail and all its complexities.  I’ve learned a lot about it’s design in my studies.  It’s quite ingenious.    McKay was a real thinker

Tony Hunt that's a great catch. My bias that they wouldn't put the poor old Clipper out to sea without her precious yellow metal protection was wrong. In fact, this cruel cost cutting measure of not reapplying this crucial protection is what led to a god awful barnacle encrustation, just a few years later. Such unforgivable neglect is what ultimately led to her demise as potential restorers determined she had too much dry rot that she would never make the perilous trip back around Cape Horn to Boston, so she was lost to eternity in a funeral pyre.

A little money spent now can save a lot of expense later.....  However,  the Group that owned her wanted FAST money now and foresight was not the attribute they wanted to spend money on.  So the scrap man won the argument... Fast money won out again...since they determined she was worth more in pieces then as a whole.   Another example that...*The LOVE of money is the root of all evil*.

In some small way...if we can build the most accurate model of her...we in essence still have her among us.   Now if I can convince Mike to let me make a stand for her from that door he has from her cabins....We will have reached the apex of our intended goal...to reconstruct and display her faithfully.

One anchor is in the temp stowed position and the other is hanging from the cat purchase.  I thought the various positions would lend to avid discussion when viewing her.

Rob, nice choice to display variants like this. I take it the alligator clamp is to stiffen the lines so they remain that way later?

Pat,  it truly isn’t clear.

I used photos of her with her anchors mounted and deduced what system might have been employed, during her era.  The release mechanism used that is fixed to the cat head is not evidenced on Glory.
I came up with the logical conclusion.  IMV.

Keep pushing ahead Vlad...you can do it.  Just make yourself some small goals...don't look at the big picture...stay small and you then can get more done.  Small victories.

See...I work on the forecastle and the head first.....then I'll move on to the next small task and then the next small task and so forth.

I break construction down into tiny bits....and tackle those bits by themselves.  If I didn't....looking at the the build entirely will cause me to either become suicidal or homicidal. 🤪

I'm building this girl to completion....hull...masts....rigging.  I will be foregoing the sails on this one....because she will be modeled as if she is moored...(Held over), if you will.  Like her San Fran image.

im going to do as you wrote. small bits and goals. step by step.

V.

I think you’ll have more success personally when you tackle projects as small individual projects once you finish each small project the larger project starts to come into view.

Plus if nothing else, you feel as if you’re accomplishing these small goals which motivates you to continue to the larger goal.

Thanks for the wonderful compliments.
