My name is Jose and I started my first kit a Trumpeter Z-43 back in July during the height of the lockdowns and have enjoyed the building process and learning new things. I used to build Gundams in the past but has since felt that I needed a more complex challenge and turned to scale model ships. Since finishing my first kit I have been feverishly amassing (I'm not sure how to describe the feeling) an embarrassingly large stash of 1/350 ships and I am looking forward to building them. It's a very good way to get help, advice and encouragement from the members here. A lot of the time a problem you're faced with in your build has already been encountered and solved by somebody else. And ask lots of questions. There's no such thing as a stupid question. Here are the instructions on how to start your log: You'll probably make mistakes as you go - we all do. Don't worry about them too much - they're an opportunity to learn, and you won't repeat that mistake in your next builds (if you're anything like me you'll find new and more interesting mistakes to make!). Every new build is likely to be better than the last. Keep your old models - they're a great way of measuring your increased skills and mastery. And have fun with it! That's why we're all doing this. I built my first ship when Michigan went on lockdown in April and May. After a couple of weeks staring at the walls thinking I will go mad if I don't find something to do and had always wanted to do a wooden ship and built the Le Renard Artesian Latina. I wish I had known about this sight after seeing all the different modifications and work arounds I read in the build logs. I completed it with a lighted case in just over 2 months. I am currently working on a plastic model of the Sea Witch by Lindberg I found on sale for 40 USD at Ollies surplus store. The people here are very helpful and friendly, as you've probably already worked out. And have fun with it.
