finished drilling the holes to the right size also added two more false walls this will make it I will only need 2 tubes to the bottom and will mean less wiring underneath

Hello Adriaan,

Very nice, can't wait for the lights to be turned on.

But what do I see there in the corners? Are those straws you used as tubes? Good idea.

Take care,

Anja

Morning Adriaan,

Looks good.

Just like Anja I want to see those lights!

It's complete understandable that you want to finish her first.

The CF can wait and so do I.

Nice Adriaan, real nice. I like how you've thought it out and designed your solution around your objective...smart. :)

Sure, you almost have to finish the kits you've already bought, like the GF but I definitely see scratch builds in your future. Heck, I can't wait to see what you do with the GF.

Oh, and the lights... can't wait for the lightshow either :P

thanks Randy I hope I was smart enough to make it all turn out ok

I am still a fair bit away from scratch building . at the moment I don't think there will be many changes on the GF but  maybe she ll have some lights on her too

started on the wiring

on the bottom I added 2 half's of a connector. the idea is to add a piece of metal in them together with the wire end. these metal bits will then fit into a connector attached to the 2nd deck. this way it will be easy to lift the 3rd deck /wheelhouse assembly and still make connection for the wiring

also started soldering the LED's together. so far the plan is working

Coming along a treat Adriaan  :dancetl6:

It's really amazing what you can do now we have the range of led's we can get now

The wiring does seem a bit heavier than the gauge available from dolls house shops that I used in the dolls house I built

That could be hidden beneath wallpaper

Is there any reason you went for that?

ok not a good night.

after finishing soldering I did a test and only 4 of the 8 lights are working. I had a check but as far as I can see all the LED's are connected the right way. so either one of the solderings didn't hold or one of the LED's is faulty

I thought I d finish painting the triangles and somehow lost one of them . I should have 2 spare if I counted correctly so fingers crossed on that

tomorrow I ll see if I can figure out whats wrong with the lights

Thought I'd pop in on your build as it seems you were a good friend of John but I have yet to really explore your stuff.  Incredible work.  The lights idea is very ambitious.  I've only done it once and I used only one LED.  That was hard enough.  They will sure bring the ship to life though.  I like the idea of the straws.  That looks like it's working well.  Good luck on finding the problem.  I'm with Sjors I can't wait to see it all lit up.

Hello Adriaan,a clever idea to use straws,my wife said "he"s smart,I replied maybe the admiral suggested it,As many are saying nice build.Chin up.Edwin

hello Daniel thanks for the comments and for looking in on my build. the lights have added a lot of work but I am glad I took up the challenge .

thanks Ed. I was pondering on where to get some small plastic tubes when I saw the straws sitting on the kitchen bench so I guess technically the admiral did give me the idea

not going to work on the lights tonight having a bit of a headache (migraine) . I might just start on fitting those pesky triangles

Modelling is a lot like fishing

If you knew you were going to catch and what they would be fishing would be boring

If models almost put themselves together it would be boring

sorry haven't been posting for awhile but it has been difficult getting back into it.

the cold and my hands being all sore (not sure why but they are all dry and cracked and even bleeding :( ) hasn't helped either

anyway I am back

I thought I started with the pesky triangles but they where driving me insane until I found the way to install them without to much trouble :

post-622-0-76770600-1372057965_thumb.jpg

offcourse after I installed most of one side I realised that I had done them a bit different so I took them all off again . now they need some more painting.

the problem with the lights was easily fixed as it was just some soldering come loose

here a test off all lights (except the most bottom ones)

post-622-0-13173000-1372057975_thumb.jpg

now I can start on fitting it all back inside and work on the 3rd deck walls doors and windows

Good to see you back Adriaan and it is sometimes hard to get back after a break...

I felt sure you'd fix the lighting... can only be a few things but it can be maddening at times...

Looking forward to seeing this puppy all together and shining proud :)

I'm up to those triangles as well and they are the killer of the build. I noticed on the pattern that they all must go on one way. I bet you were devastated when you had to pull em all off again! I played around with the whole idea of lighting the boat but electricity and me don't mix and the admiral saw me working with wires and she didnt like idea of me trying to be an electrician so that idea was scraped. Your build has come along great. Keep up the good work :)

thanks Randy. i am glad i could fix it so quickly . bare with me i know it will be slow going but i am working towards a final test of the lights all in place

thanks Mick i am glad i am at 70% . yes if i can pull these lights off together with fitting the 3rd deck and steering cabin on without glueing them i ll be laughing

i am working on getting the railings and triangles done on the second level. this because for the triangles i need her up side down and i cant finish anything on the 3rd deck before that's done

with the easy method of installing the triangles its now better to install the railings first

i need to retouch them a bit with white paint but that should not be too dificult
